obx header here and on

Get the AWR racing one. Beautifully made

too much money for what you get. theyre hosing people because up to recently, they were the only full length header available for our car...now for 150 bucks less you can also get the test pipe.

hookups hookups hookups....

well I am still on the fence, sorta.

My dad flew up today to drive down with me since it is a 24hour drive I have ahead of me and we got to talkin. He has been an engineer in the auto industry for 20+ yrs now, the last 15 of which for jaguar cars.

Anyway found out he has a buddy who has been building header(s) and exhaust systems for imports for a long time so I might sell my ractive catback(still new in box) and then have him custom build the header and exhuast all at once, that way I can get whatever I want and he will used the approprite piping and everything for each particular application.

Also he knows a guy that can do a nice port and polish for relatively cheap. SO that may be the route I will go, Ill know for sure in about 3-4 days.

what kinda price on a port and polish? just curious cause im gonna be in AZ next july and trying to get an idea

well Im driving back down there tomorrow and will be making phone calls about the exhaust, header and the port&polish this last week of august.

Ill get you the info as soon as I get some basic pricing numbers from the guy. Both guys are highly recommended, like I said they have both be doing these specific mods to imports for a long time anywhere for honda ricers to ferraris and other dream machines.

Im lookin forward to the headwork and header, should see some nice gains.

so im failing to understand why I can't just get the racingmazda.com header..weld in a test pipe with the pre-cat. run a mid pipe with the main cat..then just cut down the cat-back piping to fit the exhaust..so will this work? let me know..

your pre-cat is in front of the engine...you can weld in a cat to the test pipe...i GUESS you could put a high flow cat in the main pipe, i never thought of that...but im not sure how that would work with o2 sensors and what not...you could do that, plug in your o2 sensor in the first spot, and have a bung welded onto the main pipe and relocate the second o2 sensor after the 1st cat...kinda expensive though, in my opinion if you have to pass emissions, spend a few hours each year or every few years to switch back to the stock setup to pass...

well with the RM header should you not pass if you have a high flow or any cat welded into the test pipe? I thought to pass all you needed was one cat(I mean sniff test not visual)?

hehe, I leave for my 24hour road trip in 2 hours.

razor,

does the stock heat shield fit the header? it'll look more stock this way, i think. from what i've seen, the visual test consists more of the underneath of your car. here in arizona, when i went with my friend to get smogged in order to get a permit for parking in the garages on campus, they opened the hood, then closed it. she's running full long tubes up to a high flow on her SS, so it shouldn't have passed the visual, but he made no mention of it.

no the heat shield bolts into the stock exhaust manifold, whereas there are no spots to do that on the rm header

tonkabui, ASU main? My little brother starts his first semester there this next week, he's in the material engineering program or soemthing like that.

Im driving back down from WA to AZ(actually leaving in 10 minutes) to finish my last semester at the East Campus then I graduate in december.

You go there also or just your friend?

oh hellls no. you won't catch me dead around asu, especially with my arizona sticker. my s*** will get keyed with a quickness. i go to the u of a down here in lowly tucson. 73 more credits and another bachelor's under my belt. this time around i'm going for my physiological sciences bachelor with a minor in chemistry and molecular biology.

tonkabui,

The 93-96 ford probe with the fs 2.0L motor came with a header from the factory, but the pipes were so small coming from the exhaust ports. They had the shield covers also. When I got my cams from a probe fs to get regrind I discovered this.

lol, UofA, hehe good school but bad town, not that I can say much about ASU east cause it is not exactly near anything good but I work right next to the campus so oh well.

Thats alot of school man, I am starting my last semester tomorrow and in december Im done with my BS degree in business with my concentration in golf management(meaning I have also done all the work for the PGA to become a class A professional within 3-6 months of graduation)

Each school is good in its respective majors, when I was thinking about physical therapy I got accepted to UofA and NAU, NAU had a really really good program for physical therapy but I heard by the time I would have gotten done it would have become a very commercial industry.

any word yet on obx's availability?

can't beat it for the price, just wondering if there are any new developments in the production of said piece. if not, i'm going wagner all the way, getting a shorty header, enlarged downpipe with high flow cat and midpipe with high flow cat. it'll be crazy expensive, but i won't have to feel bad for throwing out pollution worse than an SUV. plus, the gains should be quite nice.

yeah, i chose U of A cause they have a very well established oncology department. outside california, they're top notch. but hopefully, i can do well and get to ucla so i can pursue my pediatric oncology certificate. that would be sweet. i'll start crazy modding the p5 after that. hee hee... give me 6 years.

yah I have thought alot about the next few yrs and see how things go, basically in the golf industry they look for 3 things..class A status in the PGA which requires passing all three levels of their program(a 3-6yr deal normally), a college degree, usually business now because of how much more merchandising is involded in the head professionals and director of golf/GM jobs today.

So this program is actually 4 and a half yrs because part of the PGA thing is 12 months of internship which 9 of which can be done summers between school yrs (meaning ur really doing school yr round, but internship) and testing and seminars for each of the 3 levels, this is incorporated into the school program (Professional Golf Management) as well as the usuall ASU 4yr BS in business degree. Alot of electives are free choice so I filled mine with alot of industry related classes.

I am sooooo looking forward to being done getting in at a good level in the industry and strat movin up to the big bux. I just got back tonight from driving for 2 days from redmond washington to here, phx, because that was where my last internship was, helping open a new golf course for the company I work for to ensure my future with them.

Oh yah you also have to pass a play ability test which is 36 holes of golf in 1 day with a max allowment of 4-5 over each round depending on the course, normally im a 7 handicap so I am pushing myself hard here.

hehe, im rambling because im tired, left sacremento at 9 got to phx at 7.

put my DaveB gauge rings in tonight, tomorrow goes in the kartboy SS, city lights, eibach pro kit and a really good car wash and cleaning. =) plus three classes on the first day =) als have my ractice exhaust sitting here on my floor, im waiting cause I may have a hookup to custom fab one for my car the same time he makes a header.
