OBDII / inspection problem, help

I took my car in for inspection today, guy said the car was not comunicating with the computer. He said it was probably a fuse, but I don't know which one. Any ideas?

Thanks

Matt

Go to a different inspection place. Much more likely that it was his equipment. No cel = pass. Unless you reset the ecu before going there. But even then it would just fail because your sensors would say not ready to his computer. Not sure nor have I heard of problems with diagnostic ports on our cars. Hopefully the issue is NOT the ecu in the car really having a faulty comm port on it. Haven't heard of that happening either but suppose it's possible.

edit - if another place tells you same thing then I WOULD reset the ecu by unhooking grnd from battery & pushing brake pedal a few times to drain residual charge, wait 5 minutes or so then hook it back up but then you'll have to complete a drive cycle before trying to get inspected again or it'll fail from sensors not ready. Might have to drive it around for a couple of days.

Try going to autozone, a mechanic, or basically anybody who has an OBDII reader and plug it into your car. If it works the problem was at the first shop. If it doesn't, well, inspect the OBDII connector under the dash and if it is dirty, clean it and try again. That would be an odd place for a gummed up conductor, but I suppose it could happen. If the connector still doesn't work it might be covered under the emissions warranty, which I think is longer than the regular warranty.

Thanks for the ideas guys, Ive done both of these. I have tomorrow off and I will hit a new place for the inspection.

I have my own OBDII code reader and have checked, links, no codes.

I am in the process of an audio install (no power hooked up yet) so I know the ECU has been reset a few times in the last couple weeks as well.

The more I talk to people the more I think it must have been their equipment, but ill post back here when I know for sure.

Again, thanks

Matt

I drive 3-500 miles per week, so no problem there.

I took it to a different shop yesterday, passed fine. No changes.

Thanks for the ideas, it really was their computer.

Matt
