OBD port loose

Was considering installing a blue tooth dongle on the OBD port, but when I checked it out I discovered the plug is just sort of flopping around in the vicinity of the under dash cutout. It looks like the plug has tabs that should fit snuggly in the cutout, but I couldn't get it to seat, and don't want to force anything.

Is it supposed to be seated firmly, or is it loose by design?

And while I'm at it, I noticed that the wiring harnesses under the seats don't have any sort of covers-- looks like by design, but double checking on that in case my car got made on a bad wiring day...(boom03)

Haven't looked at the OBD11 port on my CX5 but, all other vehicles I'v owned including a CX7 just had the port hanging loose. Ed

Should be tightly-fixed into a bracket. Any car I've seen that had one loose was because it had come out of it's bracket :)

I noticed that too. that's taking weight saving a little too far IMO.

Garage says that's normal

Thanks! So on the OBDII socket I have one vote for loose and one vote for tight. Anyone take a look at the one on our cars to see which it is?

mine is secure, I mean I can move it and the whole thin it attached on, but it certainly isn't "loose". I use mine often with the elm BT dingle and the taxtrix cable, and my HUD
