Obd-ii Compliance Voluntary Emission Recall Campaign 4907h

Yesterday I received a bunch of paperwork from Mazda with the above fearsome title. It is easy enough to take the car in and have the half hour of work done. If I don't do it, I won't be able re-register the car in Massachusetts, even though this work brings the car into compliance with California regulations. You figure this out.

My question is: Will this recalibration hurt the performance of my Speed3 at all? In particular, will it affect the low speed running and transitions from idle to normal running? That is, will it hurt driveability or acceleration? Has anybody had the work done?

Lots of people have had this work done. There have been no verified reports (or at least that I have seen) of anything bad happening as a result.

I did it two or three weeks ago. No noticeable power change, but I get better mileage and less tailpipe soot. THey may also replace an actuator valve. They were going to replace mine but it was backordered. Oddly, the car threw a CEL for the actuator valve code right before I took it back this week for the valve replacement.
