Ok, so i know what wires to attach and so forth. Basically i already wired the whole car and im just waiting to install the LOC.

My question is how much, or little, do i have to remove to access the wires i will be splicing into? It looks like I need to remove the whole front to expose the right wires?

Also if your answering this and you have pics to make it easier for me then could you post them. Or even make a how to for future DIY's

Thanks

Oh and add as much detail as possible until your sick of it :P

Here is the best pic I have for where to connect the LOC:

Open the glove box and you should see where to remove the strip above the box and head unit. Start from the middle when pulling out or you may snap some of the plastic holding it in on the right side. From there you need to remove the screws on top of the Head Unit. The HU should slide out but you will need to wiggle it back and forth a bit since it is a snug fit.

Also be careful because there are some sharp parts in the back of the HU that can scratch some of the vinyl trim around the unit. It is best to disconnect all the wires and place the HU out of the way when connecting the LOC. I messed up my trim a little bit when I did mine because I was not careful.

From there it is all wiring. I feel like I have done 4-5 installs since I have given this description so many times :)

That is what it looks like when you take the plastic part off. You can's see the 2 screws you need to remove they are just under the 2 that you can see. Hope all that helps (stash)

Yea guys i gotta ? about this as well mine is in the mail as we speak...UMM i want to hook the to my front speakers or rear it doesnt matter but my question is do you take one wire and hook it to the postive of lets say + r/r and then the -r/r or how do you do this kinda lost!
so it would be
right rear + one wire from the loc
right rear- one wire from the loc
PLEASE HELP AND MAKE THIS CLEAR FOR ME! Brian

there are 5 wires you need to cut in your HU for the LOC and amp to be installed.

I went with the rear speakers so I can use the fade control to limit how much bass I get from my sub.

You need to cut:

left rear "+" white w/purple stripe
left rear "-" gray w/white stripe

right rear "+" white
right rear "-" gray

Hopefully your LOC came with color guides to polarity.

The final wire you need to cut is yellow with silver dots. This is the remote wire you need to run to your amp so it gets power only when the key is turned to at least the first position. Orange with black stripe is the constant power wire and will drain your battery if you run it to your amp.

Hope that answers your question (rei)

When I say cut the wires you can splice them back together to keep use of your back speakers.

Well we will find out i ordered it from www.davidnavone.com i got the NE-7V LOC these colors are they for the reg n/a mz3 or is for the speed3? lol yea i know what you meant by cutting the wires...Thanks for the help ive never put one of these in before i have always just replaced my hu's. But not this one since i love the factory hu...Thanks again for the help!

That was the color guide for mazdaspeed 3 sport, which is not the bose one. I think the regular 3 should be the same if you have the same HU.

its installed but it sucks

Ok so its all installed, and by the way the color code from the other thread was wrong. So its not a one color code fits all.

Because you have to turn up the whole stereo to get the sub to start hitting exactly what i was worried about happened, it sucks!

I need to have the whole stereo blasting just to hear the damn thing. I got a shop nearby to tap the wires for my LOC so im sure he did it right. So could it be that the LOC just isnt that good?

Im starting to think i need to get a new HU but i dont want to lose the stearing wheel buttons. This kinda sucks.

assman, if you end up swapping your head unit, you'll need a "pie adapter"?? i believe it retains the steering wheel volume and seek functions.

also, just because a "shop" installed your stuff, DO NOT assume it's correct!

Pie adapter? i'll google it.

As for the LOC i fixed it. It had two switches on it. One on each side that said rca/wired. And i just switched them both to rca and it started hitting hard.

Thanks again for all peoples help.
