Note to self: waxing and plastic bits

So I hand waxed my car last weekend. Washed my car again this weekend and noticed these spots on the plastic "moustace" and the plastic surrounding one of the foglights. They look like spots where the black is slightly fading away, so I tried to wipe it off with no luck. I then come to the conclusion that it must have come from when I waxed the car the week before.

My question is this, is it possible to scratch the plastic with a wax? or could it just be that the wax dried on the plastic and it is just going to take some time to get it off.

I applied some plastic and trim moisturizer to the pieces and it solved the problem for now.

Rubbing alcohol on a rag works too. A soft toothbrush or paintbrush can also be used to get off old or fresh wax.

Might want to invest in a roll or two of 3m green tape and tape off those areas that you don't want to get wax on. Makes clean up a lot easier.

But no you cannot normally scratch plastic with wax applied by hand. You can burn it with a high speed buffer though. Not the orbtal type.

Q-Tip and Rubbing Alcohol....
If it is actually scratched... then Q-Tip and Acetone.
Be very careful
