Noob Turbo Question.

back on topic...........like i said u need to relocate the maf to the pressure side to dissolve the stalling issues since yes..... the maf reads the intake air b4 the turbo, if u blow that air out ur ecu thinks it is receiving more air then it actually is!! that is why my maf is moved to the pressure side so it only sees the air that is reaching the engine! their is bov w/recirc applications to hlp ease this but u still have a small problem.
sorry antoine, is that better?

I was just reading up a bit more on this, sounds like it would be a bad idea either way.... Air is measured at the front of the intake, adding a BOV will make the A/F mix overly rich and could result in stalls. Doesn't sound worth it to get a cool sound out it.. if there are no performance gains associated with it, it's really not worth it.

so why r u a mod of the mazdaspeed 6????????? u dont even have one?

now back on topic

FX-Man,

Take off your resonator. Its in your driver side wheel well. You'll be able to hear the turbo after yanking it off.

nope :) hell most of the times nobody removes the airbox to look for it. The way it's setup if you hydorlock you had water comming in the cabin 1st

A open intake would allow you to hear the BPV. I run one and I can hear it releasing when I shift. It's not as loud as a BOV, but it works. I was told a BPV is more efficient since it recirculates the air back into the system since it has already been metered by the MAF. At any rate, to run a BOV, you would need to weld a flange on your pipes for it, IF you have hard pipes. If not, then you would need to upgrade to hard pipes, not a bad idea, and then put the BOV flange on them. I would say get a intake with an open filter....you'll hear the BPV more.

Oh yeah, so how do you like that thing? Have you went up against anything worth while? Have you found any tuners or aftermarket parts yet? I'm asking because I may consider getting one here soon.

Intake wise... also mazdaspeed IIRC has one for $$$$$$$$ but it's marked as a mazdaspeed orange item.

Oh, an intake! That's not what I was thinking, those are easy. So what is an orange item?

Ya basically you pay a 250% markup, for a relabeled aftermarket part, that doesn't even have a warranty on the manufacturering quality of the piece.

Thus if it throws a check engine light, you have nobody to complain to. If it snaps in half, you have nobody to complain to. IMO its the biggest ripoff.

Yep as crossbow said if you get a cel you pay for the diagnostic check to find out it was just the intake they just sold you aprox 100 miles or so ago(well if the pcm is as sensitive as 6i or even 6s). The "off road use only" means if you are in one of those places the cops are super anal like anal beads you can get tickets for it.
