noob just picked up my 08 MS3!

Hey all, just traded in and up to a 08 Black Speed3 with 13k miles... loving it!

I read up on some issues- apparently the thing smokes like there's no tomorrow (running rich) the tailpipe takes all of 5 minutes to be black (well, maybe not THAT bad).

The dealer said it was reflashed.

I'm looking at getting a Cobb AP... any thoughts? I saw the CPe and didn't really like the idea of cutting up my wiring harness. I'm likely going to get a cob intake as well. On another board, I saw a member post that he blew his motor with a Cobb ap and intake (maybe some other mods too), but is that something you can control? I know mazda de-tuned the MS3 up top, and I want to gain SOME of it back.

Any help would be appreciated! What are the big mod problems with these cars, just fuel issues? Thx~

Welcome! Ive yet to grab an access port, but my buddy has one and he loves it. no problems, just make sure you have and keep a good tune. Most importantly.

Grats on the ride. I would hold off on the AP. Plenty of "safer" mods you can do beforehand.
