Noise while braking? New MS3

I have a quick question to see if anyone has had the same problem before or is it just something weird.

I had my new MS3 since Monday, today I drove it to Milwaukee, its about an 80 mile drive from where I live,
On the way back when I was driving on the highway and haven't used the break for a while, the car made a humming/screeching noise when I turned the wheel slightly to the left, it also made the same noise while I used the break lightly. It goes away after I break harder but then starts again after a few minutes drive. The car had around 250 miles on it at the time.
I'm sot sure if it's something little that the car is still breaking in or is it a start to something more serious.
Any answers would be appreciated.

I had a wierd harmonic (blowing over a bottle) type sound when mine was new after being on the hwy and starting away in first, turning the wheel sometimes or lightly braking like you described.

rear rotors were just ever so slightly touching the pads, went away after a few hundred miles

happens to me once in a while but not often. I like it, scares people away.

I have the same problem, It only happens about 20% of the time when I begin Accelerating in first gear, started at about 400 miles and still does it at 600, hope it goes away when I put more miles on it

To the original poster, you say you get brake noise when you turn to the left without touching the brakes themselves? Are you getting any abnormal brake pedal vibration? Does the car pull to one side? I have seen cases where an improperly mounted wheel caused these type of issues. An improperly mounted wheel can lead to an improperly seated rotor against the wheel hub. For this to occur you would most certainly also have a strange brake pedal vibration though.

been 2200 miles and mine is still doing it, dealership couldn't replicate the sound. So I just deal with it and hope it goes away eventually.

2008.5 with 1800 miles and I have the same issue. It's almost as if I can feel it more than I can hear it... it resonates through the steering wheel and pedals very slightly.

It reminds me of the sound of a bad wheel bearing... I had a couple of those on my old MR2.

This is a strange one. Have any of you gotten the wheel off the car and actually had a look at the brake assembly? To those that went to the dealer, did they do this or just drive the car? Pedal feedback can also been a sign of a warped rotor but all these cars are so new that doesn't make any sense either.

Man I have this problem, and I was worried for a bit. I thought maybe something was wrong with the tranny already.

I'm at 2500 miles and still getting this problem on my '08. There's no pedal vibrations or pulling, just a 'humming' noise when turning, especially after braking. It doesn't happy very often, maybe a split second every other day.
I did notice that on my jaunts to work it usually comes after i've stopped at a light (after decelerating from getting off the freeway @ 70mph - no hard braking) and then taking off again slowly and turning left.

The dealership of course were never able to reproduce the issue but they did say that with the bigger brakes on the MS3 there can be issues with brake dust getting caught between the the pads and rotors. /shrug

I had this same problem with my car when I first got it so I took it to a dealer close by my and try to pin point when the noise came from. After a 3 hour wait they come back and tell me that my tire pressure was too high and they rebalanced my wheels. I didn't believe the bs, but whatever they did got rid of the noise.

I still think it had something to do with the brakes, because like most of you said, when I applied brake pressure, the noise would go away.

Mine went away by ~1500 miles. It was so loud, though, scared the crap outta me the first few times.

my car has about 4k on it. i heard a moaning/humming sound stepping on the brakes making a right turn the other day. hopefully, it won't happen again ...(nervous)

Mine did that a few times the first couple days, and a couple times for the next week or so. It'll stop doing it real soon...

the noise was only there when I actually applied the brake. but it went away after 1200 miles it must have been just because the brakes were new.
