Noise from door seals on sliding doors

I purchased a CPO 2012 Mazda5 Sport with 39000 miles on it March. I drove it, loved it and bought it on one condition - they could fix the noise from doors/frame. It is best described as a creaking noise. The noise is produced when driving and most noticeable when say driving through a parking lot or slowly through the streets. The initial fix was to remove and clean the door seals and reinstall them. That worked for a bit, but now the noise is back. The dealer has it today, but they act like they have never heard of this. I actually rode with the mechanic so he could hear it. Just an annoying noise that I wouldn't expect from a 1year old new car.

Anyone else have this?

The problem is either the seal gaskets (may need to be lubricated) or the latch can sometimes make odd noises, if its not adjusted properly. I would insist that the dealer lubricates the seal gaskets with a silicone spray or equivalent and see if that takes care of the problem.

are you sure it is from the doors?

a lot of squeaking from the rear is the rear sway bar bushings. go out back, open the hatch, and bounce it up and down a bit. if it squeaks, it is probably the sway bar bushings and would be easy for them to replace/lube.

when i had my rear shocks replaced, i had a bad squeak and it was the bushings back there. they replaced them and lubed them and everything was quiet again.

Yes! I'm having exactly this problem on mine right now (~30k miles). It's been bugging me for weeks and I finally figured out that it's the sliding doors at low speeds shaking/moving. I'm going to take it in this week and see what they say about it.

Just got back from the dealership: diagnosed as "stiction" on doors, primarily latches, all doors and hatch lubricated. So far, the noises are gone! If that's the whole of the problem and the solution, I'll be very happy.

I've gone through this with a few vehicles. You may want to get a tube of Sil-Glyde or Gummi Pfledge to treat all your door seals. IMO this should be done several times a year.

I had the same problem on the doors of my wife's 2008 Mazda5 Sport. It only occurred at colder temperatures and it could only really be described as a groaning or creaking noise from the sliding door latches. It was most bothersome when braking or accelerating from a dead stop when all the weight of the car is shifting either forward or backward. My dealer, who is very easy to work with, seemed to know about this issue and said the sound comes from a little bit too much play in the door latch mechanism. The fix was to stabilize the groaning part of the latch mechanism by wrapping it with electrical tape, which still is working wonderfully two years later.

There is now a bulletin out (well it's from 2011 but I just found out about it). It is 09-028/11, issued 10/27/2011. The fix is to put 3mm of padding on the rubber stoppers on the sliding doors, which the dealer should do for free. They just fixed mine and so far it's working great. I know this is an old thread but the creaking had been driving me nuts and I figured if someone else came upon this thread in a search the bulletin might be of help to them.

Edit: I forgot that when you post in a forum the whole thread gets shot up to the top so I guess I didn't need to post this twice but I found the two different threads via a Google search and wanted to cover anyone who came searching for a solution to this problem. Sorry for the repetition!

Sorry for boosting this thread to the top, but this solved the issue on my 2012 Mazda 5, and this might also help a lot of owners who are stumped by the creaking sound on the back passenger door(s).

Just to add to the discussion... I purchased my 2007 used back in 2011 and it had this issue. I noticed it was actually missing these rubber stoppers in a couple places. I bought new ones from dealer for a couple bucks and it solved the issue for me.
