No way to keep a new customer

When I purchased my CX-9 Touring a few weeks ago, I had assumed that it had auto on/off headlights...the Mazda web page (under build a vehicle) says the car came with it. I was surprised when I went to drive at night, and found that the car didn't have it. After 2 calls to Mazda, and a letter (which they never responded to), they finally told me that the car does NOT come with auto on headlights, even though the web page says it does. They said they can't add it now, and when I told them that I relied on the representation in the web page, they basically told me to take a hike.

Business at Mazda must be so good that they can alienate a customer.

if they didnt give you the answer you want, or a reasonable to fix it. go higher in the ladder

The manual says my Sport will turn it's headlights off after 30 seconds if I don't, but that's not true. It was probably going to be a feature, but ended up not after the manual text was already written. I don;t care, it's just trivia to me.

You can't rely on a website or brochure. Make sure the car has what you want before you buy it.

get your self a lawyer, and say you'd like to return the car
there was no meeting of the minds and there was false advertising

see what mazda says about that

just go into your dealer and in the middle of the showroom floor on a busy day ask who you can file a complaint with, make other potential customers aware of the situation, this is bad for business and someone will be with you to settle things almost immidiatly

that is wierd. my 6 shuts them off if i leave them on after like 20 sec's. and its a 5 y.o mazda. i would have thought that a newer, higher end mazda would also do it.

My 2006 MS6 GT shuts them off after thirty seconds but my wife's 2007 CX-9 does not.

Keep in mind, though, that Mazda's idea of automatic headlights is DIFFERENT than other car companies. As far as I know, Mazda does not offer Auto-on headlights. I have those in my Grand Cherokee and I love it, but I have yet to see it as an option on any Mazda. They have auto-OFF HLs, that turn off 30 seconds after engine shut down, but only on some trims.

my 3 has auto headlights... there is an "AUTO" selection on the headlight switch... you HAVE to leave it there for it to work... when it gets dark enough (like going under a wide bridge) it will make the headlights come on... it will turn itself off once there's daylight or shutting off the car... it will also turn itself on when you start the car in the dark

it does NOT have that battery killing 30 second "light sentry" crap... I hate that s***!

According to the owners manual, some cars come equiped with an "auto on" setting, where the lights will automatically go on when it gets dark; as I noted earlier, I was fully expecting my car to have this as well.

Just as an update, I looked at the Mazda web page, and they have corrected it to state that the car comes with "auto off"...it used to say, before I complained to them, that it came with "auto on/off". There's a big difference between the two. I take this as an admission that they cheated me (and anybody else who relied upon their misrepresentation). But they are still unwilling to do anything about it.

I understand that you feel slighted when the website says one thing and the car actually delivers another. The website probably has some disclaimer too [i did not read the website so this is my disclaimer on that]

You should go back to your dealer and ask them to make it right with some other form of either an upgrade or something else, until you both feel the matter is resolved. If they will not deal with you, then start writing letters to upper mgmt and the dealer every day, then go in on a busy day infront of many prospective customers and state your case...good luck

Hey guys,
How he can has AUTO ON headlight with his TOURING trim?
ONLY GRAND TOURING HAS AUTO ON/OFF XENON HEADLIGHT.
Touring only has AUTO OFF and Halogen headlight.

feeling cheated,
You bought Touring Trim and you thought it has AUTO On/Off. You need to read specification more careful.

Yes, this is correct.
My cx-9 Grand Touring has auto-on.

Sorry to hear about this. However, was the auto on/off feature the most important feature that made you buy the CX-9 in the first place? If so, then you should pursue this action further. Otherwise, it's a moot point. Don't sweat the small stuff and enjoy the ride.

My GT has auto-on headlights and I don't even use it...
(for example, when you go under an overpass, the headlights turn on. When you get out, they turn off.
This could be very fun if there are several overpasses above the street you travel... I hope the guy in front of you don't mistake it in a bad way.... you know what I mean...)

IMHO, auto-off is good enough for the sake of preventing battery draining.
