2002 Mazda Protege5
Hi everybody, first time poster. I have a 2002 protege5 that won't start. Here are the syptoms: when i turn the key there is no power to the fuel pump. I jumped the fuel pump and it works fine. Fuel pump relay was tested fine. Where do I go from here? I am stumped; please help.

Matt

how is the connection at the fuel pump? do you have power to everything else when you turn the key?

Everything tests fine at the pump when jumped, but i don't have 12 volts when i just turn the key. Checked the grounds and they are all good.

Plug could be bad at the fuel pump. Check the wires to see if you are getting power in the wires.

Also, are there/were there any engine codes?

When key is turned to on, no power at fuel pump plug. When i jump it at the relay then there is power and the pump kicks on. When it was running had an intermitent code popping up that had to do with the o2sensor or the cat. Even when the fuel pump is jumped it will not start.

I think the issue is in the ignition. Im not very up on the ignition in these but possibly the cylinder needs to be replaced if its not telling the car to do everything its supposed to.

I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure what all fuses relays and wiring was involved also 90% of cars have the fuel pump runing when key is in the on position to prime the injectors for cold starts it will help a lot more than you would ever think

Bumping this from the dead..... I have the same symptoms except my power windows have also lost power. I checked all fuses and none are blown. Any thoughts?
