No Recirc with Heat?

I was in the CX-7 a couple-o-days ago and I tried to put it in recirc mode. This didn't seem to work though. No light came on and it was like I never pushed the button.

So, with the heat on, is it automatically in recirc? Does it move between fresh and recirc? Why is this not selectable? Is it only my vehicle that does this?

It's not the heat, it's the defrost. If you have the front defrost on half or full it won't recirc as this will fog the windows in certain colder conditions.
