Nintendo DS price drop on 21st!

Hopefully they will come out with some good games soon too....I have had one since launch day and barely play it.

nintendo is for children...they dont make any games to compete w/ the competitors

Touchscreen is a gimmick. They make it sound like it's the coolest thing on the planet, when, in reality, very few games need it. And the ones that do, are still awkward.

Touchscreens are for PDA's. Not gaming devices.

I've got GBA, NGPC, GP32, NDS, and PSP

I play none of them lately. I instead use my Treo 650 with the emulators found at www.kalemsoft.com to play old school NES, and SMS/GG games. Occasionally some TG16/PCE games.

The PSP definitely has the more games as compared to the NDS. However, NDS has some truly stand out titles. I've got that "Feel The Magic" game and it is alot of fun. very "Mario Party"ish in nature. Also, the Mario 64 conversion is great. It took me a while to figure out how to use the "thumbstrap" instead of the stylus, but it really adds more control.

The emulation community has huge plans for both consoles, there have been rumors about running some serious emu's on the PSP, and the DS is working on quite a bit as well.

Just some quick links to get you started. I'll be picking up the GPX2 as soon as it's released. My GP32 is definitely my favorite console, bolstered of course by it's support by open source type development. I have actually purchased one legit software title for it (the movie player which plays back divx 3.11 video quite well). Being able to select the clockspeed of the unit is also a nice feature. Doom/Quake and Scumm games being a prime example of when you do, and don't need processing speed.

Hey man...Mario Paint was the coolest game for SNES. It would have been cooler if it had a touch screen.

I wouldnt let a child play RE4

the DS has been outselling the PSP two/three to one most months, which has defied all analyst's expectations. third parties have been scrambling to re-align their portable lineups and reportedly sony has been rebuking (read : firing) the execs in charge of the PSP launch. bottom line is, most people don't want to pay close to $300 for a handheld system, regardless of its ability. TurboXpress anyone?

don't get me wrong, PSP is a cool unit, but nintendo knows the portable market better than anyone and there has yet to be a sales equal - game gear, lynx, n-gage, neogeo pocket, turbo xpress, etc. people that buy portable games typically want a quick fix type of game, nothing so complex as sony seems to think is needed.

plus, there are a few companies thinking of developing an engine management/diagnostic interface for the DS, would be cool...

I played nintendogs at best buy today and for the first time in a real long time i got an ear to ear smile playing a game. If kids get to play this it will be huge, bigger than pokemon.

I personally dont care for portable gaming. So i wont buy any portable. Id much rather play on the tv.

Nice!!! Too bad I already have one. Meteos is pretty fun if you guys haven't tried it already. There are some great games slated for the fall. I'd love to get my hands on Animal Crossing DS and Metroid Prime:Hunters.

I enjoy my psp thourghly.....there are some games on DS worth playing....Kirby and Meteos are two....but the 4 games i play on psp (tony hawk, Lumines, Wipeout and Hot shots golf) get a daily rotation.....honestly, people act like u have to wait minutes for the psp to start up, when in reality putting it in standby mode works just as great if u need a quick fix and don't want to start up a new game. Also, although it is $300...you get so much more than just a gaming system.....which some people don't want, which is understandable. But honestly, I think the DS is outselling right now because 1. lower price and 2. parents ain't buying their kid a delicate psp. But for now, psp isnt' selling BAD by any means...not really good....but the sales will ensure it remains in the running for a while.

Nintendogs is gonna be cool, as gay as it seems, its pretty ******* cool. kirby looks fun. there's also a surgery game coming out that looks really really badass. the touch screen may seem like a gimmick but its innovative... what other game companies are so innovative that other companies copy them? hmm lets see, Rumbling controllers - Nintendo, Analog control - Nintendo, Shoulder controller buttons - Nintendo, Badass First Party wireless controller - Nintendo. Although there were some flops... Virtual Boy. whether its an innovation or gimmick it adds a whole new dimension to gameplay. and isn't great gameplay what really makes a good video game?
