Hi All,
I'm a long time lurker and a first time poster. We all know the stock system is OK at best, Bose or not. I convinced myself it was good enough for a few months but the modding bug finally bit me. Started by adding a sub and amp to the stock system, better bass, mid and high still muddy; that held me over for a month. Then I replaced the door speakers, still running off the bose amp. That also lasted me for another month. Then I said screw it, let's do it right. Pulled the stock head unit, put in my Alpine unit from my last car, installed a 5 channel amp under the passenger seat. Upgraded to Focal components in the front. Sound deadened everything I could see. Now the system sounds great, I was happy turning volume up to hear clean undistorted music. So I'm surfing the web looking for nothing in particular and I run into this thread where folks were putting Galaxy tab 7's into there Hundai Genessis. I though well s***, if they could do it, I could too and it turns out a bunch of guys already put tablets in their 3's. Most of those guys ran the audio out from the tab into some sort of analog volume control device and then into their amp(s). I wanted my stuff to look as factory as possible so I extended the wires for the Alpine head unit and put it in the glove box, I never use it anyways. Then installed the Nexus 7 in the stock location by modifying the Metra radio kit. The beauty of this setup is the audio is still clean since its coming from the head unit and it also has steering wheel control so I can control the volume from the steering wheel making it as factory looking as possible. Tasker controls everything, power on with AC power, wifi on, screen stays on, Bluetooth on, etc... Power comes from the cigarette power in the arm rest (is is always on but I swapped the power wires with the one in the ask tray) so now power is only on with ignition. Phone connects to head unit for Bluetooth, Nexus 7 connects to OBDC2 through Bluetooth module. Once my phone connects to the car's bluetooth, tasker turns on mobile hotspot so everything is seamless. Sorry for the long post, anyways here are some pictures.
