Newbie To Force Induction

I want to go with forced induction on my MP5. My only problem is I don't know where to start. I read threads on starter kits but I don't know if I need to change internal parts on the engine. Its basically going to be for the track and car shows. Is it cheaper to go with a custom set up or a kit?

I want to live up to the "T" in my user name.:D

Sounds like a good idea!

My turbo'd protege5 has been kickin ass for some time now.(rockon)

I suggest you go w/ a Premade kit. It will save you tons of time but it won't be cheaper.

factor in the basics like how much money you're willing to spend, how fast you want to go, how much power you want to make and/or how nice, clean or wild the kit needs to look like for the shows. it's much easier to decide when you've squared away a budget and somewhat of a game plan.

if you're planning to run low levels of boost most-to-all of the time you shouldn't need to upgrade the internals with the engine tuned right. tuning is critical to making the most power as well as the most reliable power.

i'd suggest a pre-fabbed kit already on the market unless you plan to go all out crazy with looks and $$. check out Mental Addiction Motorsports on the forums here, beau is a real nice guy and provides a crap load of parts to accent his turbo kits like fuel rail kits, midpipes, forged internals, etc. he also has constant sale specials on a lot of stuff.

good luck with your project.(hi)

We now have different turbo kits. The Standard one we have had for two years which is a very complete kit to run up to 12 psi on stock internals for 230WHP.

Now we have a low budget one with a Garrett T3, intercooler, piping and an FMU for around 6 psi and 180 WHP.

And the new high power kit that is coming out with a Garrett GT30R, external Tial Wastegate, Haltech E6X and optional forged internals for real high numbers.
400WHP.

PM me if you want any additional information.

Greensleep, Mental Addiction Motorsports makes premium quality turbo kits out of stainless steel and his prices are low too. I have gotten my forged pistons, rods, high torque clutch, turbo kit, AEM ems(any day now!), from MAMotorsports. I have never talked to anyone more knowledgeable about F/I than him.

My current MP5 is an auto, so I'm thinking of getting a manual MP5. I've already convinced the wife, so my search will hopefully begin in a couple of months.

Oh, I'm sorry Tuned Mp5T, I thought Greensleeper was the threadstarter (the post above mine). Yes, definitely look for a manual, they are so much funner!
