Newb Howdy

I just wanted to drop in and say hi. I will be buying a Protege 5 soon (2 weeks or less) and its going to be my first Mazda. I've been working on my cars for 10 years now and can't wait to get wrenching on the P5. I've already read most of the Newbie questions posts, so I'll save you that, but I do have one issue:

I'm active duty Air Force and will be moving to RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, UK and I'm wondering what the P5 population is like over there. If there are any members from over that way, what mods do you have? (I've heard the laws are a little bit tighter)

Guy's thanks for the welcome and the kind words. I can't wait to dig into the board and learn more about the Mazda.

Right now I'm only planning mild(vanilla) upgrades:
18" ADR Wheels (actually off of my old car: Eclipse )
New 215-35-18 tires
1.5 Drop
AEM Short Ram
HKS Axle Back Exhaust
Short Throw Shifter (OBX?)

Hey guys.. ive been reading and watching posts for a while..
Im new here tho..
Just bought a 2002 Silver MP5,
Waiting in Anticipation to make some mods..
So far stock tint with "Zoom Zoom" on the Rear window..
and every thing is stock so far except the sound sys...
Any Suggestions for cheap upgrades/mods? thinking about doing CAI soon.. Dont want to go short or RAM Air but we'll see

Welcome! Cheap mods? My #1 priority was the shifter. The stock feel is ok, but my last car was a Miata, so everything else feels like rowing a boat. So reducing the throw is important to me. You can get B&M, Kartboy or TWM shifters in the $100 range. They're all good from what I hear.
Other ideas are clear front corner lights, JDM tails, dash kits, shifter/ebrake boots, etc etc. Have fun! (headbang)
