Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums here, so i wanted to introduce myself. Names Matt, and I'm about to pick up an 06 MS6. I'm taking over a lease, all the paperwork is done, got insurance, just waiting on Mazda to give the phone call saying the owner can transfer it to me.

This is my first mazda, as i was a honda guy for many years. Had an 94 prelude si, 94 accord lx, 96 accord ex, 02 civic si. I did some work to all of them, but none more then the prelude. I have been without a car since I moved to brooklyn about a year and a half ago, so I'm more then excited to get behind the wheel again, especially in an MS6.

I have 15 months on the lease, and if at the end I am happy and have had no problems i'll buy it out. I've driven it a few times so far, and I'm pretty impressed. I think i will keep it stock for now (although it already has eibach springs on it).

If anyone has any tips or advice for a new MS6 owner, please let me know. I cant wait to learn more about this car. I have seen a few not so great things from researching (turbo seals, power loss issues) so if anyone has experience with those things I'd like to hear from you.

Thanks in advance, I hope to learn alot on this forum.

Welcome aboard. A lot of questions have been asked before so don't hesitate to ask, but luckily the community here is pretty good.

I've had my MS6 for a little over a year and LOVE it still. It is my third mazda and am still a mazda fan.

I'm so anxious to get into this car, I am just waiting for mazda financial ... which is taking forever. Its killing me looking at mods too, when I dont even have the car yet hahaha.

I promise to search before I ask questions, but I know I need to have one of these already

After reading through some of the tech issues, I really want to get a turbo timer, but I'm not sure if mazda would see that as an actual "mod" or not. Any thoughts?

Welcome.

As for the turbo timer, as long as you have common sense save your money. If you don't boost right before you shut off the engine the turbo will have enough time to cool down. Some people just listen to the rest of a song. Personally I just make sure to take it easy the last few minutes before I park it.

I just bought an Audiolink USB used, it's easy to install if you have basic skills and a nice addition. So far I have just used it with my MP3 player which doesn't give controls via the steering wheel, but it is nice not having to shuffle CDs on a long trip.

I'd start with springs ! and a CAI... Fujita its cheap and works great no cel's

yeah you really don't NEED a turbo timer. If you drive your card hard, then shut your car off you need one, but like my old drive to work, I would pull in the parking lot and it would take 30+ seconds of driving at 5mph to get to my spot, so my car was cool from the 55mph+ driving.

you know, like 10 minutes after that post, I read one or two threads about turbo timers. After seeing those discussions, I think the only way i would do the timer if its a timer/boost gauge/controler. I wont spend the money on a timer by itself.

I just got word that the transfer should be complete by friday ... the next two days are going to take forever.

Chiefmg, I've done some car auido stuff in the past, and I saw the video on here of how to install the audio link. Seems easy enough, I like that it has usb input and aux. I'm just wondering what capacity usb drive you can use, I may have missed that if its in the write up. The bose system should sustain me for the time being, especially since i'll only be driving it on the weekends.

JaxJeff, It has eibach springs on it already, and I'm getting the oem ones as well. I like the stance, but the low ride may be a pain in the ass on NYC streets, time will tell. I'm unfamiliar with the term CAI ... I'll have to do some research.

06MSSix, I'm hoping to pick up my 06 Speed6 tomorrow, congrats!

I remember reading a great how-to thread about the installation of the Audio Link USB player, but I can't find it now. Actually, searching for it has led me to your thread! If I do find it, I'll post the link here. Do you still have a link to the video handy? I think this will be one of my first mods to the car.

I'll be ordering a shark fin antenna and the Audio Link from therpmstore.com, I've ordered some LEDs for interior lighting from superbrightleds.com, and I am probably going to pick up the Defi BF Boost Gauge and controller to install as well. Performance-wise, I'm going to wait till next summer if possible, because I want to enjoy the car stock for a while, and then I can really appreciate anything I do. But I'm thinking probably just an SRI and the ETS TMIC replacement, along with the motor and dif. mount replacements to strengthen things up.

edit: I think this was the link to Yellowmp5's install: http://forum.torontomazda6.com/viewtopic.php?t=281

OJ B, thats awesome man, congrats to you as well.

I'm going to go light on the mods at first as well. I like the how to you posted, but I think I'm going to mount my audiolink in the arm rest if possible. Just seems more flexible there, as I plan to use the usb, SD, and aux inputs at one time or another. and since the car is on lease for the next 15 months i dont want to make any major dash mods (cutting anything).

here is the how to video I was talking about

I checked out the store you mentioned too. I like the way the shark fin looks I may pick one of those up too, but everything seems really expensive. I guess there is a small tuner comunity for ms cars, so i should just expect to pay a premium for everything. But $300 for a cold air intake seems a little high ... (finally figured out thats what CAI was the apreviation for hahaha).

a quick update, just got the call from mazda, everything is a go. Picking up the car tonight after work. too bad its going to be rainy and miserable, but that doesnt matter, you cant kill my good mood right now.

That's awesome! I was pretty excited/nervous all day yesterday until I finally had the papers in my hand and was on my way home. Man have I been enjoying driving around since then though!

Actually, I hope it does rain a bit, because I want to see how the FK452s handle the wet. I haven't pushed them in the dry yet really, except one highway off-ramp I took a little quick, but the car stuck like glue.

^^ yeah, I'm interested to see how they deal with both rain and snow as well. It would have been nice to make the trip back home with the windows down, and the sun blazing though.

I couldnt be happier right now. I havent been in love with a car like this since i was a teenager ... its got balls, its classy, and its funny the looks people give when they realize its not just a mazda six. I had two girls in a riced up civic break thier necks giving me the double look as I pulled up next to them at a stop light.

Its like the ultimate sleeper.

It is truly a great car. If you think the looks you get now are bad, you should see what I get with my badgeless front grille and painted rear emblem along with taillight surrounds. I do hope your enjoyment will only grow.

^^ i am pretty sure I will only grow to love this car more. I'm tempted to do more body mods, there are some sweet grills an such for it. but I have to be careful not to do to much, and make it a target for theft.

Hey congrat's 06MSsix!! Did you enjoy the car over the weekend? I've still barely driven mine, since right after work on Friday I went away for the long weekend. Looking forward to my commute this week!

^^ yeah, i'm loving it, but i'm having some problems already, s*** I should have been on the look out for, but I was just to excited to get the dam car. I'm going to start up a thread in the suspension section.
