New turbo kit

Which turbo spools quicker, the 16G or the T3? It's my understanding it's the T3, I think that's the same turbo as the KKK03 that was in my A4 and man, that turbo spooled instantly, right off idle, but had an efficient max of 12PSI. I would be happy with 5 PSI (minus IC) and 6 or 7 with an IC. I want to keep this car for awhile, and I like instant throttle response. But the KKK03 ran out of steam at 5500RPM running 10psi (stock) or 12psi (chipped) Will the 16g still offer fast spool up while pulling to redline? Or would a T3 be better for me. I definately am in the market for a kit.

The t3 spools up a little quicker and has a good power delivery up to redline. We just sold a kit here locally and driving on my car with 5psi non intercooled is amazing. The little sucker pulls like crazy all the way to redline.

Kits are ready for order, with a 4 week back order.

T3 sounds like the one for me, there is a turbo neon that runs with us in autocross occasionally, he'll be here for the next race, he runs a t3 with no IC and at 5psi. Since the neon engine is so similar, I think I'll go for a ride with him and see how it pulls.

The price of the kit is $2700. We just finished initial testing and sold the first one here localy. An intercooler upgrade will come in the future, this will include all charge piping powder coated, clamps hoses and an extremely efficient front mount spearco intercooler with brackets ect.

Do you have any pics of the kit? also i live in pa and there are emmisions. what would have to be done so i could pass the emmision test every year. Is the kit fairly simple to install, i consider myself very mechanical and plan on installing it myself? Is there a BOV on the kit?? if not could one be added?? also what is the aprox price of the future upgrade with the I/C??

also, have you/ or do u plan on dynoing these kits? i would be really interested in what kind of whp its putting out?

Hey Spoolin I was on your webpage and the new turbo kit was not listed. Pics of the new kit would be great.

Pics are comming out soon of the kit on the car and in parts.
Emmisions should be passed easily(depending on state....cat will be retained) with the turbo but it will not be carb certified.

The kit will be extremely easy to install. About a 5 hr install time. The kit comes with an HKS bov. The intercooler upgrade will consist of an efficient spearco intercooler and pipes and will roghly cost 700 dollars.

SWEET! i:D :D probally a stupid question but what is CARB certified. how does this effect me??

This kit is not carb certified. This would raise kit costs to unreasonable price levels. Unfortunatly we do not have the recources like hks and greddy. The kit will come with t3's.

On our starter kits the 16g and t3 are options. This is not viable on our new kits because both kits would have to be entirely designed (i.e charge piping, down pipes and future intercooler setups)

When we dyno it I am aiming for 160 uncorrected wheel hp at 5 psi.

The intercooled kit should be in the 190 wheel hp region at 7 psi.

spoolinmp3,
Your kit sounds sweet. I love the idea of being able to upgrade (kinda like stage 1, stage 2) etc. It also seems like your setup has been the most trouble free. How often do you have to fiddle with stuff though (ie, tightening, adjusting)? I have very little experience working on cars. My girl's dad (mechanic) can help I suppose.

Chris

Once my kit has been installed, I have never fiddled with anything on it. I just put gas and go. I admit that I like to fiddle with my link (computer) system but I hate getting my hands dirty and never pop open the hood uless I am showing it off to someone.

I was wondering that since you guys have just manifolds. And are doing all this turbo work. If you guys are planning on making high performance turbos like 10 psi with intercooler and e-manage or something? Also does anyone know if you could get the MSP lsd and put on an mp3?

what are the differnces between 16g and the t3?? i think the new mazda speed uses a t25? can some one please explain the pros and cons of each turbo. which one has the least lag? Thanks alot all help will be appreciated. also terry, what size boost gauge is it so i know what size pod to purchase prior to the kit. also what other gauges are essential? ive been reading other post about a egt gauge. does that measure heat temp after exiting the turbo or does it measure the exhaust temp. i would like to start getting gauges ready and other stuff to minamize all my expenses at once. I was thinking dual pod on pillar with a/f and boost. and the egt one right infont of the steering wheel. also what ur opinion on a lightweight flywheel, others have mentioned when upgrading clutch to get it done. with the turbo does this help??
