New Toyo Proxes T1R today

TT, when you upgrade you will find that the stockers had a stiff sidewall but besides that they are not as good as rated. The upgrading to a Toyo or similar tire will bring this out. If you are concerned about tire wear I do not know, but if you want to stick and feel it I have opinions a plenty, Whitey after a couple of sets you will find all kinds of personality to tires. Soft sidewall aside, glad you are getting the traction the car deserves!

I played with it a bit more and really like these tires. I would imagine they would track good but not great yet on the street they are excellent.

Today I did some quick turns and hit it on the on ramps that are curved and the car felt great. I think it is just like a new pair of shoes and you get used to them but at first they feel funny.

Either way I will be buying them again so long as they last between 23k+ miles. Stockers got me to 23k and anything more while keeping performance and costing less is fine by me.

My final vote with out considering how long they last is for others to get them, great tire at just about anything you can throw at it. I will post back as I get more miles on them about how they wear. I plan to rotate every 2500 miles and balance every 5k.

Got mine installed yesterday.....called in sick to work and went out to see what these tires could do.....

Response I agree with whitey you dont get that twitch when you jerk the steering wheel left to right but these will do it they just glide doing it much smoother instead of jerking you around in the cabin.....

Grip like whitey said these are great tires they took every curve I threw at it and wanted more....whitey said it perfectly you feel so much more comftorable and in control and feel more confident behind the wheel taking turns....as for a slolam they did not do too bad....my dad works at an air base so I got to go out to one of thier old runways....

So these were great tires some of the best I have ever ran on any of my vehicles...I am with whitey if they last about 25k or more definately be my next set as well...

W Mike, thats quite cool to have the airbase to set up cones or do a skidpad. I would love to find the limits of my nittos. When the Bridgestones were pushed hard they well, pushed. I had the ass hanging out more than once, but I had trouble being able to tell when they were going to break free (turning) and dragging well there is no comparison to the softer compounds available. The little wagons ears pick up when I say wanna go for a drive speedy? Just the tires increased performance soo much. Heavy braking into turns got pretty stable and predictable. I garage car for winters so I have no compromise tires. There are some other great tires and deals out there but you might need a bit wider wheel than stock unfortunately. TT look into how the tires are rated and that will tell you what the tire is capable of. Wonder Mike, you called in sick to go driving!!!! Love ya man! and I agree on your opinion.

I am glad I was able to help ease your mind in buying these with having some responses and reviews before forking over the cash.

If you like them now and beat on them this new give them more time, about 300 miles, and you will be even more happy. Mine really woke up and are doing much better now that they seated well.

Now you know what I mean about a more positive feel the car has with these tires. You can now feel what the car likes and when it will break loose unlike the Potenzas where you felt like they never would come loose. Problem with that is when they do I bet it would be drastic and bad. You can feel the car enter into corners a bit more relaxed and it feels plush but not like SUV tires or anything. The car takes the corners just fine but there is no more Go-kart feeling. On the other hand it takes the corners right where you point the car and they dont scream while doing it.

I suppose you just have to take our word for it and try them. I know others will be just as happy with all these tires offer over stock because they do a great job and only really sacrifice that instant response with the twitch of the steering wheel. For a track tire that may not be ideal but for every day use and play time they hold their own. These are the cost sensitive tire that seem to do it all very well but not all of it perfectly. I just didnt want a cheap set of ECSTA on my car in fear that for the savings vs the Toyo's it would not be worth it. The tire dealer agreed and there would only be about $80 savings so it was a no brainer.

They just dont feel like the Potenzas which to me felt very twitchy which are great for cornering but the negatives were noise, longevity, cost, some grip, and a bad ride. If these Toyos get longer use I am going to love them and happily buy another set as well.

How you like the quite cabin now?

Good to hear you are happy. Give them a few more weeks of mileage then get back and tell us how much more you like them.

PS be sure to rotate them every 2500 miles and balance every 5k. Lets see how long these bad boys will last. I drive very easy on them 95% of the time so between your style and mine we should be able to compare as time goes on.
