New top speed with FS-ZE

Yesterday morning on the way home from work, I was playing tag with a Lex GS400. Anyways, I knew he had more power than me, and when we would cruise side by side, he would leave me. I finally decided to go with this guy, so the next time he did it, I pursued. Luck has it it was around one of my favorite spots to speed (On I-30 between MacAurther and NW119). He was at least about 200-300 feet away by the time I dropped it into 4th. I caught up to him faster than I thought I would(about 10-15 secs), and passed him. I looked up in my mirror, and he was getting farther away. He started to close, so I stayed on it. I thought to myself, I should be reaching 100 soon, and looked down, and was already at 120! s*** I look up again in the mirror, and he is atleast a 1/4 th mile back. He either gave up, or I had too much momentum and top end going. The next time I looked down I was at 130. I decided to see what this new engine could do, so I stayed on it. I was my speedo hit just abouve 135 for the first time ever! Suddenly I felt this jerk, and then I got slower, so I let off the gas and started slowing down. s***, I think I hit fuel cut-off. The funny thing is that the Tach was hovering around 6k when this happened! I slowed down and tested my car to see if anything was obviously wrong by accelerating. Everything was all good, and still is.:D

You know what they say, yer either brave or...
Man- if I would have just blown up an engine I would probably be doing the speed limit for a while! You gotta be crazy Linux- either that or you got some deep pockets. Sounds like like you got quite a bit of bang for yer buck though... that makes you what- #3 w/ an FS-ZE on this board? Congrats man- you've got yerself the only MP3 w/ that conversion.
Some day... yeah- some day...

how do you like the fsze? im planning on getting cams and pistons before summer i want to have at least 180 hp at the flywheel. i just need to be all the ricers around here.

PS is there a sound defference between the FS-ZE and the stock mp3? what about the way it drives.. ive heard of a lot of people swapping engines that have jsut some small changes... eg cams pistons.. . and they say they basically had to relearn how to drive it...

There is definitely a sound difference! It is more of a droning, but powerful roar from the engine compartment when I step on the gas(enhanced with the MHP CAI). As far as driving, the lightened Fidanza flywheel will make you stall in lower gears quicker if you are not giving it gas. It defineitely accelerates quicker. I really need to Dyno this thing. There are Dyno's all over the metroplex, so it is a must.
