Hello all whats up, Just new to this board and Ive been looking at Mazda's for quite some time now. First I was looking at the Mx-3 Now the Protege5 since Mx-3's are getting on in their years and its hard to find one, plus a newer car would be nice.

Anyhoo, for all of those people who own a MP5 give me some info on what you find are the glitches and the positives on this car I would appreciate as much information as you could spare a bum like myself :)

Juddd,

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net. There is a BIG fridge in the corner with just about anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGEALLY have. :{D

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! :{D

Ditto on what the other guys said....please take the time to look around and do some serious reading....there are already a few threads on the board for the Pro's and Cons of our beautiful piece of automotive history.

The p5 is banned in almost every state because hot chicks tend to throw themselves at the car...as you can imagine this can be quite dangerous. :p

Welcome aboard Juddd, you came to the right place...as you can see already how cool our members are...hope you visit often and enjoy!

To my Igloo neighboor, welcome aboard!

My 2 previous cars where Civics : '90 Si and '00 EX 4 doors. I bought the Si brand new and kept it for 10 years, it was the best fun car I ever owned, even after 10 years of LOYAL services. When time came to replace it, I put my faith into another Civic but what I mistake I had made. That piece of crap can't stay stable in almost any situation. I added a front strut tie bar and a lower suspension reinforcement bar (both Neuspeed), wich fixed part of the problem. Then I added the SiR's rear stabilizer bar and that fixed the swinging rear end problem. Got Yokohama A520 after but I didn't like how fast they ***** out, went back to Avid Touring and found no loss of handling??? Then I finally installed an OMP REC seat to have a seat that did not gave in curbs. After 2 years of complaining, I gave it to my wife. Civics are no longer what they were, believe me.

So I then tried the MP5, and I fell in love. After nearly 4 months and 8000km, I cannot find ANYTHING to complain about this little jewel. It's a VERY safe feeling car, solid and looks great. Ok, gotta admit that it's not as fuel efficient as the Civic but hey, fun has a price. Personnaly, the only thing that bothers me a little is the shifter, and that can easily be fixed.

Go and have a test drive, you'll see why we bought these japanese pearls.:D

p.s. the OMP seat is for sale (and it's red)

go git yourself a mp5 and I guarantee you will fit in just fine.

Trust me, do your research (I did) and you will learn the pro5 is the best value (Style, features and pricing) out there and soon you too will have one.

Next thing you know you will be adding to it and searching for mods and advice just like the rest of us.

Welcome to the family.

Grad Promo thingy

Well im going to college next year taking a Computer Engineering course, so I might be broke. Im thinking of maybe waiting till im done college and then buying one and then i'll get my $750 off for being a grad.

I am doing the same thing right now. Paying for school, that is. But I would rather pay for the car now, instead of after I graduate and am trying to pay for a house or pay off school loans! BTW is getting the $750 in a few years really worth not being able to drive a shiny new chick magnet now? The truth will set you free!:D

ditto on the college thing...i would have waited on getting a car if my 85 oldsmobile hadn't died on me. i was searching for a used car when i found a great deal on a P5...i just couldn't resist...thankfully i'd basically saved all the money i could since i was like 6 so my bank account was somewhat full versus being empty now...but i was well worth it...i love my P5 and it is the best car for moving all your junk into the dorms...when everybody else had their civics and bimmers full and i had to make like 5 trips...i moved my dorm in 2 trips and i had a lot of crap...my advice would be to get the car now especially if you're going off to college...cuz chicks dig scars...oops i mean chicks dig cars

Buy it now. All the cool kids are buying the Protege5. You want to be cool don't you???
But really it's a really fun car to drive. My buddies are always wanting to go driving with me because they love the way it handles on the windy mountain roads near by. The protege5 may not be the most powerfull car out there but it is more fun than anything else I've driven in years.
NOW GO BUY ONE. =)

NOT TO MENTION...if you wait those FEW years....you will be getting a DIFFERENT P-5.....one that ford really has their fingers in....and we are not so sure its going to be the car we all want to be driving......so.....its a crap shoot at best. the old "bird in the hand" senerio. we KNOW what we have now.....the future is uncertain.

Being a college grad has it's advantages.

When you are old and gray you are not going to remember half the stuff from your economics or humanities class but you will remember the great times you had in a P5.

Ahhh, college life. Seating for 5. 1 spot for the driver leaves 4 more for those ladies who need a ride from the party back to their dorm.

Not many people get the benefit of driving a P5. Most people use it for transportation.
