new to the msp family

hey guys just got my 03 msp 5 days ago. the original owner kept her all stock. i just got my boost gauge on there to see what she has....... she hits and stays at 7 psi but only when i wind it out above 4500. im a newb with the msp so just wondering if that is normal, or should it come on at lower rpms?? thanx

welcome to the forum. are you saying it takes to 4500 to hit full boost or that it only holds full boost if you are flooring it?

Stock? you should have full boost (7psi in your case) ~3200rpm if not a lil lower.

it doesnt hit full boost till around 4500.. vacum is good at -21 any ideas or thought would be much appreciated.

wastegate actuator is leaking most likely. I had the same problem.

yeah thats pretty late... my 28rs hit 7psi before 3000 and 15psi by 3500, no way the 25r should take that long. check your lines and ic pipes for leaks.

thanx for the info. one more thing about the boost problem, when it finaly does hit 7psi at 4700rpms my boost gauge needle jumps vigorusly between 6-7 with a high pitch squeel. im used to my brothers rx-7 twin turbo with none of these symtoms. and one more thing i dont get boost in first gear no matter how hard i get on it.
