Mazda protege 2.0 2002
Hello, new to the forum here

Earlier this year i purchased a used 2002 mazda protege es with about 110,000 miles. I havent had any problems with the car until recently the car overheated and got a cel code for misfiring cylender #3, i want to say it was p0303. So first thing i do is replace the spark plugs, wires, ignition coils, radiator, and thermastat. still overheating and rough low idle (500 rpms). I checked the compression and they were all low, highest was 110.

So I need to replace the head gasket and possibly the cylinder head?

Any way, heres my question.

While i'm doing this, is there anything else i should replace, or upgrade?

Thanks in advance for any input

with that many miles and the amount of work involved, you might as well do the timing belt and water pump and of course replace all gaskets since they will have to come off anyway(intake and exhaust manifolds, EGR valve, throttle body and I believe there is one under the water outlet where the upper radiator hose goes to the head)

Thanks for the info. I recently replaced the timing belt maybe 3 months ago, should i do it again?
