getting some 225/40/18 nitto neogens all around and an alignment done on wednesday... goodbye bald tires!!!! (burnout)

so i had the stock potenzas till today.. right around 21k miles on em.. i knew the were bald, but had no idea on how severe until i had a chance to see them pulled off and they were borderline dangerous. the new size i went with does make the gap between the tire and the fender more pronounced, but i think its worth it as far as i can tell with wheel spin. if somebody can chime in on the effect of the new size on the speedometer i would be greatful. as far as 1st impressions go.. cant get much better. i love the look of the new tire.. very aggressive and clean look from the side. i had the chance to do a couple take offs from varying rpms and didnt get spin till about 3k rpm, and it wasnt a full rotation from the feel of the launch. cornering is a HUGE improvement and no squeel from the couple hard turns i took.. and one of them the potenzas always let loose on even when they were brand new.. and the nittos just grabbed like glue. so far i have to say im very impressed. :)

You're not off by too much. How much did everything cost? I'm not looking forward to replacing 18in tires.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revolutions Speedometer Odometer Difference
215/45-18 3.8" 12.8" 25.6" 80.5" 787/mi 60MPH 10000mi N/A
225/40-18 3.5" 12.5" 25.1" 78.8" 804/mi 61MPH 10212mi -2.1%

they went for about $100 each on tire rack, but the average cost of mount balance here is $150, so that would have been $550.. but a local place provided the tires mounted/balanced and an alignment check for $600 so i did it that way so i would have a local place to do free rotations every 5k miles.

i got my falken 452's put on and aligned/ balanced yada yada for like....600 or 650 or soemthing cliose to it. sick ass tire for sure. great tread life and grips perfect. its not like the azerias? i dont feel like looking up how to spell it...anyhow, its a perfect medium of tread life and grip

What size 452s did you get, and on what size wheel?? I have 235/40 on 18x8+48 and they're terrible for ride and handling.

Sorry to lead off topic euphorism

Nice! I plan on getting 225/45/18 Neogens too, I'm lowered on eibach springs :-D

Does anyone know if the 225/45 tire will fit without rubbing? they won't have to be stretched on the wheel as much

I just got BFGoodrich G-Force Sports in 225/45/18 and put them on my stockers. I barely rub, it's like taps my fender, nothing really crazy. I'm on BC coilovers and no gap in the front and about a finger in the rear. With 2 passengers, no rub over bumps. With this size, you'll notice feeling bumps. It's so much smoother. But the only complaint I have is that the sidewalls seem to flex more.

I'm running 225/40/18s -- According to the Nuvi, my speedo is off about 4-5 MPH -- speedo says 75, Nuvi says 71. I got the Nuvi after I put the 225/40s on so I don't have a baseline for speedo error on stock size rubber.
