New Stereo System - New Beginning

UPDATE!

Well I didn't get any pictures of it (forgot to charge the battery in the camera), but I finished the removal of the old power cables and RCA cables in the car. Also ran new 4awg power and ground, plug the RCAs and turn-on lead through the car.

If it doesn't rain tonight after work, I hoping to run all the speakers wire to all the doors. If it does rain, then carpet the box and start mounting it.

STILL TO DO LIST
  1. Run speaker wire to front and rear speakers
  2. Carpet the box
  3. Mount the box in the hatch
  4. Mount new amp to the back of the rear seat
  5. Mount the 1 farad cap to the back of th rear seat
  6. Make all the connections to the amp
  7. Test the Amp and start initial tuning
  8. Hide all the wiring to the amp, sub, and speakers (if I haven't done it already)
  9. Tune the amp again (probably still be doing this when I show up for the race)
  10. Install the new front components (depends on which bid goes through on ebay; A/D/S or Diamond or Boston Acoustic)
I'll keep all post and promise more picture tonight.

Me too....I am soo pumped to just hook it up and worry about installing right later. But I know I should take my time and do right.

Tomorrow I will somehow route all the speaker wire and carpet the box. Should be a full night of work:)

Finished sealing the box tonight. Stuffed it with poly-fill. Mount the sub in the box. Unbelieveable.....way tight. Can't even push down on the sub, it is sealed soo tight:)

1. Power, ground, RCAs, and turn on lead all ready to go:)
2. Capacitor Ground connection.
3. Amp ground connection.
4. Box carpeted (crappy job by my standards, probably redo it later)
5. Brackets for holding the box to the car.

Routing wiring in the P5 sucks ass. Here is the reason why. I see the beauty of the installation for the manufacturer. But as a DIY car stereo installer, not the greatest idea personally.

Well, it has been a long weekend and I amazed that I got a lot done. With my brother visiting and working a little bit at Best Buy, I got all the speaker wire connected to all the doors. Now starts the tuning of the amp and the system, something I am looking forward to doing. See the list below for things STILL to do.

STILL TO DO LIST
  1. Run speaker wire to front and rear speakers
  2. ReCarpet the box (1st time sucked)
  3. Mount the box in the hatch
  4. Mount new amp to the back of the rear seat
  5. Mount the 1 farad cap to the back of th rear seat
  6. Make all the connections to the amp
  7. Test the Amp and start initial tuning
  8. Hide all the wiring to the amp, sub, and speakers (if I haven't done it already)
  9. Tune the amp again (probably still be doing this when I show up for the race)
  10. Install the new speakers (pending ebay, not sure what I want to do)
Also if anyone ever needs help putting new wire in their P5, I can do it. Expert now! Sorry no pictures, just wanted to get it done especially seeing it was COLD here in Wisconsin on May 1st!!

I wish I could pass on sound bits of how cool this amp is. The before and after effects are just crazy. And I am not even close to being done with the tuning.

Well today, as I was tuning the amp, planned out how to clean up the wiring. Gonna try to attach the Autocad picture in a word document of the amp enclosure. Probably start building it tomorrow.

im at a current standstill with my project. its been way too cold to lay any fiberglass and i need to cut my mdf. hopefully one day this week i can get together with ken in his paretns' laboratory and get this crap cut.

From Print to Press!!

Ok...a little wood, a little time, and BAM!!! A enclosure for the amp and capacitor. Cannot wait to carpet it and mount it:)

Then all I have to do: recarpet the box, mount the box, clean the car interior (from all the wiring), and finish tuning.

I am really starting to get into the swing of things here. Forgot how much fun it was to do all this. Miss the good ole days when I use to install for fun:)
