New short throw shift kit

Hi Everyone,

I'm writing on behalf of TWM Performance, an aftermarket automotive component manufacturer. Previously we have focused on products for the Toyota Celica line, however, we will now be manufacturing many products for the Mazda Protege family.

As of now you can purchase our short throw shift kit for the Protege/MP5/MP3 from our website, pictures of the shifter will be up this week.

All of our shifters are CNC machined from high strength steel and nickel plated for a low friction, corrosion resistant finish and show quality shine. Our kit for the Protege includes:

A TWM Performance short shifter.
A full instruction manual.
2 TWM Performance vinyl decals.
All necessary mounting hardware.
CNC machined T6061 billet aluminum spacers which lower the heat shield beneath the car and provide the necessary clearance for our shifter (these also avoid bending or crushing the shield).

Our shifter reduces throw by 45% on the Protege and Protege 5, and 35% on the MP3. Knob height is lowered by roughly 1.5".

We are very exited about this new product and customer response has been overwhelmingly positive thus far. We are also VERY interested in any suggestions, comments or requests you may have so feel free to contact me any time.

Cheers,

Karel Wegert

Oooh, looks like kartboy has some competition...although I think their shifter costs more. I DO however, like the fact that you don't have to bend the heat sheild. :-)

welcome to the mp3 world, guys!

welcome aboard, glad to see more companies making parts for the protege, the shifter looks good. i guess im going to have to decide which shifter i want now.

Welcome to the board guys!

Good job on the install page for the short shifter... It's good to see more support building in the aftermarket.

True Antoine, this is why if/when I decide to get a shifter, I will go with Kartboy's piece.

Well, I do hope to get to know the community a little better :) I wasn't intending on just plugging a product and disappearing.

To all those who offered kind words: thanks, they are very much appreciated.

Anyway, we do make a great product and have faith that potential customers will realize that. We are always open to suggestions or comments and I truly hope that anyone who is interested in what we do will feel comfortable in approaching me (or any of our reps).

The bottom line is, the Protege is a great car with an EXTREMELY bright future (especially when considering the Mazdaspeed model on the horizon). We spent a long time deciding which car we should develop for next and we felt that the Protege was a great platform. We're happy to be here and I hope you all will be happy with what we do ;)

BTW Kartboy, you make great looking products and I'm doing my best not to step on any toes in here. Good luck and here's to friendly competition.

There is an Install page on TWM's site above.. Follow the links...
That should help, and it doesn't look too hard. Good luck!

Installation, really isn't very tough. You'll need jack stands or a lift and simple hand tools (a snap ring remover tool does make it alot easier). It really isn't anything that requires extensive automotive know-how and we do include a full instruction manual to help you along(like fastdrvr23 said, its up on our site).
