If you are interested in a new 2006 Cardinal Red Automatic with a moonroof in California, as of Dec 7 per phone call with MazdaUSA (they are at 1-800-639-1000), there appear to be less than half a dozen left. So now I feel even MORE JAZZED about getting mine this week~~~ (alright) (breakn)

There is one Touring with Nav in Redlands
One Touring w/o Nav at Menlo Mazda (this one came up on the website inventory search as being in Oakland, but the trade to Menlo apparently was never noted on the website inventory)

There are 3 Sports with a moonroof:
One each in Cerritos (@Browning Mazda, where I bought my Touring), Redlands and Ontario Calif

Again, this is what Customer Service told me. I have not contacted the dealers other than Cerritos to confirm.

Also, I didn't ask about red manuals, or about red Sports automatics w/o a moonroof , (there is one of these at Cerritos), as I was only interested in the automatic with that opening to the sky!

Hope this helps any of you. I haven't seen the Plum yet, just the photo online, and only one salesperson I've talked to had seen one yet (and his remark was that it is pretty intense). IMO Mazda is making a HUGE mistake discontinuing this awesome coral-red and making such a dark purple (and this comes from a person who loves purple in a lot of things, but nothing stronger than burgundy when it involves vehicles--which is the color of the vehicle I've had for 13 years). This plum looks so dark and intense, I fear that it will be of particularly narrow appeal.

The weather is supposed to change tomorrow, so I think I'll take my purrrty red 5 on her first Big Sur road trip today. WOOOHOOO ~~~ Later gaters!

I didn't get to see the red in person before I bought my 5 (inventory was pretty low in my area at the time). Had I seen it, it would have been a frontrunner. I have seen one since and I like the color a lot. People say it's pink, but in the lights I've seen them it actually skews a little bit orange to me. Almost a reddish rust color in afternoon light.

I haven't seen the plum yet, but (and I think I've mentioned this on the board before) I dread the day when my kids see a purple 5, they are going to be pissed. They both wanted a purple car so bad they couldn't stand it.

We didn't get to see our Cardinal Red before buying it. We wanted a bright red, which Mazda doesen't sell in the 5 line. We took a chance on the Cardi Red. The dealer had to go eight hours to get it for us and we're hapy with the choice. Thesales manager told us that ours was the only Cardi Red 5 he had ever sold. It's nice to be unique. Darker colors seem to dominate the5 line, which I don't quite get - I prefer lighter colors. Overall, I don't see many 5s on the road, but with only 15,000 out the door so far in the USA, that isn't suprising. I did see a Plum 5 last month and it loked pretty cool.
