Went out with one of my buddies who is heavily into photography so he could practice shooting cars (he has mostly done model shoots to date), so I got the car waxed up and we took it up to a garage at his work.

The car is bone stock other than some interior CF, and the window tint. Can't wait to get some mods on it, but gotta pay off one credit card first.

Here is the first shot he sent back to me... not bad for his first time shooting a shiny black car :D

Here is a shot from the front:

Here is an interior shot of the CF trim. It actually looks more subdued in real life, but it caught a lot of the flash in the pics:

thats alot of carbon fiber...........is that carbon fiber?

yep, its Carbon Fiber with some kind of Resin on top. The dealer installed it as a selling point, but not too many people wanted it so it sat on the lot for a while, and I got the car about $1,000 cheaper than the other speed 3 GTs on the lot :D

Edit: It took some getting used to at first, but I prefer it to the flat black now... like I said, its not that shiny without the flash :)

I will let him give specifics, but from what I know it was a $1600 cannon with some nice lenses and we had a couple of extra flashes as well...

He hasn't done cars at all before this, so we wanted to take the car out and find out the challenges.

The CF on the inside was a bit bright cause we were about to leave and wanted an interior shot so we had already put away any diffusion stuff for the flash (ugh)

We got there around 5:20 or so and the sun was gone by 6:00 so next time we will probably head out sooner as well to get some more natural light.

My advice would be to break all that carbon up with some color........but if its growing on you.......

Either way nice shots.....

Camera

Camera used was a Canon 5D with a 24-70 2.8L Lens. 580ex II on camera firing a second 580ex II for remote flash.

Good learning experience for me, just means I need to get out and shoot some more cars so I can get the lighting down.

Not too bad a shots, Models and Animals don't have nearly that reflective of a surface. (wow)

Pure sex. I really like the fact I bought a black car when it's all cleaned up. I didn't think I would like that carbon fiber look on the interior but it looks REALLY great. Nice car!

I am going to use that as my background here at work!

I saw the pics over on DFWMAzdas...then I realized something. I hope you didn't get that one from Freeman, and pay that $750 charge they wanted for the Carbon Fiber trim.

Nope, they dropped the price on the car to get it off the lot... apparently the interior trim was keeping them from selling it :D.

I was worried about that so I went back and checked the line item receipt.

That looks like carbon fiber vynal wrap..i hate to burst your bubble...

I am fairly sure it isn't printed vynil as you can see the threads, but maybe they just did a good job of making it look like CF. They are definitely not molded pieces that replace the current plastics. They go on top of the existing piece.

Up close it looks like CF with about 1/8" of resin on it. Either way I like it better than the flat black plastic :D
