New P5 owner!

2003 Protege 5
It was time to buy a "car". . . . and the P5 won price/sweet-ride war.

As gas was going up, the bank account was going down. My former daily driver (a lifted 97' TJ Wrangler), is now a toy. She was not a smart choice as a run around the city vehicle, but now she has been sent out to pasture. Only to see water, mud, and rock from here on in. Run wild sweet TJ. . . run wild!

The new addition to the family? A 2003 Protege 5, that needed a caring owner. As cute as the former owner was, she didn't care for her car the way a car like this should be cared for. The price: Better than what the average is. The cons: Minor cosmetic damages. (Pics will follow as I will need some expert advise on bringing this beauty back to it's days of glory)

Anyway. Wanted to say hi to everyone. And I look forward to picking some brains on here.

This is her. As you can see she came in need of some TLC.

I'm not too sure the best way to go about fixing that front right. Better to replace? or can it be fixed within reason price wise?

The former owner got hit in her parking lot (which patrons of a cafe she lived above used) and it caused that damage to the right rear.

And the interior drivers side floor is caked with salt stains(notcool). I'm not sure what the underside of the carpet is like in these. Is salt a problem getting through Mazda carpet?

Hopefully my next pictures will be of this car in a little better shape.

First off, clean your EGR valve. Theres a how-to in the how-to section. Also, while your there, do the 'stock intake mod'. It looks retarded, and every bone in your body will be telling you "why am I ruining my car..." But it really does wonders...

Also seafoam your engine.
At around 100k miles you'll want to change your motor mounts, as the rubber starts to rot.

Theres a thread about the best spark plugs to use and another about which tires to use. Defiantly DONT use the stock tires (dunlaps I believe they're called).

And feel free to post any questions you have, eventually someone will help ya.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you buy your car for? And where are you from? How many miles are on her?

And you might want to get some POR15 for that rust....

Sorry to thread jack but what is the stock intake mod? I did a search and could not find anything.
