New P. E. P/Pope Downpipe and turbo manifolds.

Tax is a fact of life dude lol. Popes running a business.

u know what i dont like about tax (shady) they tax our income, then tax the remaining money again when we spend them XD

I know we all complain about the tax and duty and stuff living in canada and sure, its a huge pita. but really, it could be so much worse. Living in canada has a lot of benefits that Far far far outweigh the convenience of living in the states.
sure they have a lot of freedom and choice, but they also pay through the nose for a lot of things canadians consider totally rediculous lol.

ill gladly continue to pay 35% gawd knows what percent tax just to not have to deal with any of that stuff.

and ill gladly pay whatever tax is on popes stuff cause to have anything even remotely similar made in my local would cost like $1500++.

Sorry.. I lol'd so hard at that I almost choked and died.

the benefit are only for new immigrant, homeless, or someone who needs emergency medical care.

average canadian gets nothing.

the road are full of potholes, less subway than 3rd world country. spend 2-4 weeks to book appointment with Dr. only to hear him telling me to go home and drink some water, the ill will go away(typical "free" medical care system). and we still pay for drugs out of our own pocket.

what do you mean you get nothing? you got roads to drive on, safe neighboorhoods, clean water and food, energy.. nothing is free in life but im glad we have enough systems in place to ensure that almost everyone has the ability to pull themselves up if they are willing to work hard enough for it.

some places in the world, you can dream all day and work your face off, but you simply arent ALLOWED to be better. I dont get the hate on socialism. as a society, we are supposed to work together to ensure EVERYONE has the opportunity to excel not just the few that have the resources.

i just wish we treated our students better. makes perfect sense to make our future doctors and engineers eat mrnoodles and pay $1000/month out of their student loans to live in a closet.. rock up 60k in debt before they even start looking for a job they prob wont get cause other people from around the world who get FREE education are already better qualified and subsidized to work.. ahem.. Fix that, our country would probably be the nicest to live in.

BUUUUT before this turns into a total off topic mess, id invite you to continue the dabate via pm, and not here.

My manifold and downpipe are paid in full now. hopefully pope gets the issues with the casting resolved in a painless manner. dispite the wait, this should be a nice unique peice worth the wait!

This manifold looks good. But it looks like it's going to be tough to install. How will you get access to the lower middle bolt?

remember that the flange was determined to be undersized by a good margine in the first sample. pope is sorting that out with the foundry now. maybe a good time to do head gasket as well? then can install manifold with head off the car. im sure you could use crush tube spacers or cones to install everything just fine.

Update from Tom:

"Heard from the foundry this morning - Its going to cost $3400 to build a new pattern tool. We were able to salvage the heat treating and machining tools though. This is a fraction of what I originally paid so I definitely want to go through with the manifolds. Now the trick is coming up with $3400. The business still owes the house budget a sizable chunk of money from the first set of tools so that avenue is tapped. If I can sell 6 manifolds that gets me in the ball game and 8 really solves the problem. I'm going to leave the price as $525 through this week. Then the price goes to $575. If you've been on the fence now is the time! The rebuild is going to take 3 weeks and then it will be another 2-3 to get a second set of samples. That puts actual production 7-9 weeks out with delivery to me in August. This timeline starts when they get paid - so the sooner I can drum up some business the better."

So we need another 6 manifolds sold to start production.

Updated on Pope's Facebook page on June 14th: "Despite not getting the manifold sales I needed, I am moving forward with the tooling revision and will be sending money to the foundry this week. Despite not getting the manifold sales I needed, I am moving forward with the tooling revision and will be sending money to the foundry this week. I was able to get the money together by selling the 944..."

So looks like we're about 8-9 weeks out from delivery. For more timely updates like his page here: http://www.facebook.com/popeengineeringandperformance

I may have to get in on this. Especially since it is (or will be) the only MSP non OEM T2 stock replacement exhaust manifold in left in production (other than 1 other co. on Ebay that has one that looks like Thunder's version. I guess we"ll see how that turns out)

Heh. I'm pretty sure the pope could be called chinese as well....
Its really hard to get away from.made in china. Either the part is.made there or the.materials or tools.to make it are.
With that said, thunder price point is.nice

This.project will be a nice one off kinda thing but he wants $600 for them now which is quite a lot.for a stock replacement.
His old style log design at $450 I think would have been just fine. Its too bad he never FINISHED one to try out.

Ill be happy to get ky.pope stuff. Eventually. At least its all paid and I don't have to think about it anymore. Though its all on faith as we will all have given up our paypal resokution right by now if something were to happen.

what are his opinions on it?

I've had it for about 5k miles. I welded the motherfucker everywhere. When it comes back off for any reason, I'm planing the surface. It was warped and requires me to use two OBX manifold gaskets. Had I not been in a hurry, I'd have done so initially.

In short: It's hard to beat for $200.
