New Owner soon (also GTI vs MSP mini review)

Hi,
I'm in the process of trading in my 2003 GTI 1.8 T for a mazdaspeed (blue). I should be a new owner by the end of this week.

A question that a lot of people have about is GTI (with eibach strut and spring plus front and rear antisway) vs. MSP. I have driven the GTI for 9 months and it's a good car if it doesn't have constant mechanical and other problems (2 tranny plus a dead monsoon radio). After I test drove the MSP, the differences are really apparent. Switching to MSP because I got fed up with the realibility issues and also the service that I got from VWOA (they had the BALLS to VOID my Powertrain warranty because of "outside" influences)

The main thing I noticed was the transmission...THe msp is much more crisp when compared to the tranny in the GTI. The GTI felt like a slushbox whereas the MSP was really sharp. The clutch in the MSP seems really easy to engage and I really liked the feeling. My GTI is definatly more notch than the MSP. I know that the GTI can out drag a MSP if it's chipped (extra 40 hp), but that's not where my passion is. Handling and realibility is more important to me.

anyways, I'm just need to wait for my gf to get home and cosign the app ^_^

welcome, im sure youll love the car, specially if you prefer handeling to power. youll be able to find just about anything you want to know about the car on this site.(thumb)

i found a new aniversary edition on the streets with exhaust and bov (all I could gather) and waxed him by about 2 car lengths with my friend in the car and a sub

I schmoked a dude in a new GTI the other day. The look on his face was priceless! He probably had no idea what my car is and figured he was gonna show the ricer what for. It helps that I run at 9psi. :D

Welcome, I've driven quite a few A4's and Jetta's and have never been a fan of VW/Audi's shifter feel. It seems it's either a love hate thing. I think it's notchy as hell.

The MSP is one of the better trannies I've driven.

Did the same thing!!!

I traded in my 2003 GTI for an MSP too!!! lol. Never had a problem with mine...except the tranny, the clutch would barely grap...and with the torsion beam they had in the back it would take tons of money to get it to handle like an MSP. I haven't looked back since..excpet for the fact that the GTI's internal were all forged and you could get 400 hp off the stock internals..this engine is a little more...challenging :p But man this thing is a hoot to drive...welcome to the boards. Don't forget to search...lol (you prolly remember that from the vortex!)

by the way ryoga...how is it that you were registered in DEC 2002!!??? just wondering... :D

I was gonna get a MSP (spicy orange) back then, but my GF convinced me to get the GTI because it's german...and German cars are supposed to good...:bs:

That GTI had too many problems...tranny died twice with 7000 miles (9 months)...and the radio just died too...

7K miles with the tranny die twice? That's too much.
I thought my friend's Golf was bad enough.

Welcome to the MSP world. I am sure you will enjoy the car.

Thats laughable. Do a little research and even in germany itself they rated Japanese cars as better and more reliable!! :D
