2008 Mazda 3
Hi. A couple weeks ago I baught a pre-owned 2008 Mazda 3. Love the car. This one thing is bothering me though. I started noticing that in the AM when I start the car it sound rough and there is a sound that I can best describe as a slurping sound when I feed gas. So I'll pull out of my parking space slowly and hear this sort of slurping sound. I know that sounds odd. I can't think of anything else to call it. Its not really a rattle. Maybe its the sound of something flapping very quickly?

Today overall I didn't like the sound of it engine in the AM. I almost though it sounded a bit like a high end lawn mower. Aside from the odd slurping sound it sounded generally rough.

It seems to go away after I've driven the car a while. Also, sometimes I feel like I notice a general roughness about the exceleration.

I did take it to the dealer (not the one I baught it from) who put it on the lift and examined it, said it looked fine. We drove it a bit and he couldn't really detenct anything, though this was later in the day and the sound had worn off.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kirsten

After reading other posts I should add that I feel it turns over a bit slow sometimes, which maybe is related (fuel pump?). It often seems to take an extra couple seconds - not much but noticable.

Haha, I should also add that I do drive my cars a bit hard. I feel like the performance if OK on this car, though its my first Mazda so... I've punch it a few times when I pick someone up to show them what it can do, and I'm a fast merge on the hiway. I hope I didn't brake it already.

it might be your exhaust. oddly i noticed that sound aswell and it sounded like my protege5 after i put the header on. As far as the A.M. vs P.M. it can just be the air temp and or humidity or something else that i'm retarded at explaining.

btw i drive my car pretty hard at times aswell :)
