04 M6 s MTX
I just bought an 04 V6 MTX friday. Good deal with small issues. Small to me anyways. The issues are. Bose 6 disc will not read a disc, wheel bearing are nearing the end of their life, and 5th gear pops out under load.

The 5th gear issue is a bad trans mount. The dog bone looks ok, but the upper mount looks like the elastomeric section has twisted. Just from the look with the airbox and battery still in. I am looking into the AWR mounts. I will replace the upper now, but I am looking for the best price on it. The dogbone mount will be down the road.

Now for the CD changer. I figure replacing the changer module would be the best route but finding a replacement will be a pain. Pointers on the removal will help as well.

Wheel bearings I can deal with for a while.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Before I forget. where could I find the basic good to know threads. Like first mods, what to watch out for, common failures and so on.

First of all welcome to the family.... @nd look around we have divided the forum into specific subforums to make finding things your intrested in easier... One forum to check out is the How-to forum it has alot of diff mods with how-to instructions on getting them done. Most have pics that help.....
5th gear issue may be the trans mount but a more likely culprit is the 5th gear synchro in the trans. If thats the case it may be a bit expensive if you didnt get a warranty with the car.... Good luck.....

I know its the mount. In gear with the brake on the motor has an excessive amount of travel on the trans side. You can see where the rubber in the mount has started to twist and wear as well. at cruise speeds the gear holds no problem . Its just on acceleration when the motor would torque up and away that it pulls the linkage and pulls it out of gear.I also have a pulley riding on the condenser line from the twist in the motor.

if its that bad. maybe just replacing the stock mount with a new stock mount would do the trick. you could prolly get that at a local auto parts store.
