Im new to the MSP forums and a proud new owner of a 03.5 MSP (this car kicks ass by the way), I need some input as to what would be the best mod to get me started.

the "search button".

you'll enjoy your car! the are very fun. use the search button on the top of the screen and it'll list page after page of mods for the car. hope this helps.

p.s. if you plan on racing the car invest in some internals and give up on a warranty.

turbo timers aren't needed unless you can't, for whatever reason, do a 30 second cooldown drive

i cool down my rx7 for 1:30. rather safe than sorry. even if you do a cool down drive and then kill the car the turbo can still spin and now the turbo isnt lubricated. turbo timer lets the car idle so that the turbo spools down and then can come to a safe stop! i guess youll find out in the future to come when you've got play in the turbo shaft

Well, when I go to a restaurant with my family I hate to have them wait in the car for 30-60 sec so the darn turbo has time to cool off. They don't like to wait either so I use the TT, lock the doors and arm the car from inside the restaurant.

I say the 1st mod of HP should be a DP or catback exhaust. Many people will say that a catback does not do much, but I bought the catback 1st and later the DP and I felt the catback gave some nice gains and sound much better IMO

I also let my car cool down for 1:30. Then again, I drive far for work, and race around everywhere I go. Better safe then sorry though.
Here's what I would do:
1)Turbo Timer (I also had an aftermarket alarm installed at the same time)
2)Boost gauge and any other gauges you want to moniter
3)boost controller
4)lowering springs
5)short shifter
6)exhaust(or turbo back)
7)downpipe
8)intake

Boost gauge, Manual Boost Controller, NGK BKR7E spark plugs (one range colder), Protosport Down pipe.

Most people don't recommend MBC's anymore because there have been a few blown motors. But I'm still boosting higher then stock (10psi) and will continue to do so regardless what others say. Other people arent going to dictate my level of lifes enjoyment! And I really don't car if Mazda NA or any other Mazda employee surfs this site. It's my car, I paid for it and I'll do with it what I please.

Welcome to the community!

I agree with Vic!:D A boost gauge and turbo timer are great first mods. And doesn't put alot strain to your wallet. But after that it's all down hill from there, break out the cash! muahaha. j/k;) Welcome aboard btw!

I've tried to get ahold of DaveB for a month now. I e-mailed him 2 times and PMed him 2 times as well. No answer. Did he die or something?
YOU OUT THERE?????????? I WANT SOME RINGS!!! I'll pay you!

I think the rings would be a good first mod as well, but it's not really a "mod." Kartboy urathane shift bushings was my first mod, and I love em. Changing the tranny fluid to redline MT-90 would be benificial as well.

for those ones who use turbo timers...is there a harness for the protege or did you have to splice wires?
