2006 MazdaSpeed6
Guys,

I've had some interesting cars through my life

1987/1988 Tbird Turbo Coupe (FMIC, overboosted)
2001 Grand Prix GTP Special Edition (cammed, dropped, etc.)
2003 Nissan Maxima SE 6 speed (wifeys and is stock)
1993 Lexus GS300 (Aristo mods, Supra exhaust, HID retrofit)

but I am most excited about the new addition to the stable, this 2006 Silver MazdaSpeed 6 GT off lease. It's got 26k miles and is not certified, but will have the remainder of the 50k warranty offered in 06.

Purchase price was $17647. Although I feel it was a decent deal, I think I could have worked them a bit more. FWIW, Manheim sales are showing 15-17k for auction sales of these 1 or 2 years off lease. Dealer acquired this from a Mazda action, and was originally asking $18950. Anyhow, the dealership has to make some money, and I needed a car right away because my GS300 died. My situation made me tire of the haggling, so after three attempts, I finally caved at what I felt was a reasonable offer.

Joined this community a while back because of the great info and knowledgable members here, but now I am proud to be back as an owner.

Looking forward to a good time.

Welcome! Sounds like the deal you got was right in the middle of the road, not a screaming deal or a trip to the cleaners. Really what more can you reasonably ask for when buying a car. I am curious how you feel about this car having a bolted GTP in your past as well (I did love mine... RIP). I'm sure you're going to have a lot of fun with it. Any questions you may come up with along the way, you know where to find answers.

Myriad, I saw your profile before, and I knew we would be talking. After having owned the GTP, my impressions of the MS6 are that

1) It handles better
2) Power delivery is more linear
3) AWD > Wrong Wheel Drive
4) Quality is all around better
5) Looks are all around better
6) Factory HID > Ghetto HID retrofits
7) Better gas mileage all around

I could go on and on honestly. The two cars are really in entirely different leagues IMO. Your thoughts?

My sentiments exactly, except for the looks part... I was partial to that style w-body. You did however forget to mention the benefits of being able to row your own gears. Now check and see if you need the clutch TSB done on your 06 and for the love of all things good in this world change your rear motor mount (you won't be disappointed).

As I have been known to do, here is a link to one of the TSB lists, make yours all it can be! http://www.mazda6wiki.com/wiki/Technical_Service_Bulletins_(Mazdaspeed6)

Welcome Brian! I'm also from MA. Where abouts in MA do you live? Looks like you got a good deal. I bought my 07 MS6 GT w/ 19k miles this past spring for $23,500. Guess I didn't get as good of a deal as I thought. Congrats on the purchase!
