New MS3 Review on Edmunds

I just saw it this morning and was getting ready to post it for you guys, even though I'm no longer looking to buy an MS3. I recently updated my current car to a newer model.

0-60 is slower but the 1/4 time is the same. But more important than the 1/4 time is the fact that the new MS3 is going 2.5 miles per hour faster at the end of the 1/4 mile. Also the car is now 4MPH faster through the slalom compared to the old MS3.

Looks good. I would buy one if i was still in the market.

Good Find! I've been waiting.

+1 -- I've been waiting for the reviews to come out.

impressed with the improved handling...

All that said -- I'm glad I have the one I do.

What's funny

Is that I DO agree with the Second Opinion comment about the improvements NOT being that great for younger kids who could get themselves into trouble with so much power and refinement.

Sometimes being expensive keeps the power in teh hands of the more mature, though I know there are some rich people who are inmature and stupid.

Motor Trend has their say....

Can the new MazdaSpeed3 beat the next-generation GTI? The Speed3 offers fun on twisty roads at a bargain price, good looks (although we're still trying to get used to the new nose), roomy interior for the car's size, and the practical function of a hatchback. It is also faster at the track than the GTI is. The Mazda is definitely catching up to the GTI, but unless the next generation of the VW has gotten worse than the ones that came before, the MazdaSpeed3 isn't quite there yet.

I am so glad I own the first gen MS3. Even if numbers were waaaay better, I'd still pass owning this little clown. :)

I bet you many reviews will still edge the older version over the new one. And what has MotorTrend been smoking?? A GTI better than the MS3? WTF?

My 2 cents,
Carlos

Yeah I find that hard to believe

I think Motor Trend isn't worried about cost or road feel. :-)

lol motortrend is so full of themselves, they are the only one's who think that the GTI is above the MS3 in an overall comparison.

okay, lets not get too rough on the new vehicle. Yeah, its grill is something that many wont get over, but new owners will overlook that once they sit inside.
The interior layout is nice, but the design looks a little to tacky.
I like that the tall gearing shows on the qtr mile run, something I somewhat dislike in my model, and I can imagine the pull on the long runs.
About the handling, its something many can get close with upgrades like tires and springs.
From 1 - 10, for being the replacement to a great tradition, I give it a 9.
