Picked it up on Monday, going back today to have window tint and fuel door changed. Love it so far, and haven't even gotten on it much since I'm under the 600 mile break-in.

So, since I've had it for 3 days I'm already considering the cold air intake and maybe the springs. Thoughts? And do I have to get the factory intake to preserve the warranty?

The intake is a tricky thing with Mazda....if you have the dealer install the Mazdaspeed intake, it, and the rest of the car retains the warranty. If you install an aftermarket intake, have a problem (any problem, ranging from a CEL to a thrown rod) and they can prove your intake contributed to the problem, you're out of luck. The magnuson-moss act protects people from false warranty denials where modifications are concerned, but remember that Mazda guarantees that engine against defects when it's producing the horsepower it was designed to produce, and what it COULD produce with genuine Mazdaspeed accessories. They will not guarantee the engine against defect when aftermarket parts are installed, as they have no way of knowing what affect the modification has on output. If I were you, I'd go ahead and spend the $ to keep your warranty intact. Peace of mind isn't always cheap, but it's worth it.

welcome aboard. you will find some that say yes and some that say no to the factory CAI, ive heard CPE has an excellent one too, but to each its own. you will find the boards very informative. enjoy.

welcome and enjoy... i would ask your dealer that you are interested in putting in a cai and what their thoughts on it are regarding warranty?

I talked to the dealership I bought my car at and two other Mazdaspeed dealers, and all three told me that Mazdaspeed parts would NOT void the vehicle warranty. No one ever said it had to be installed by the dealership either.

I've been in since then complaining of running rich, bad gas mileage... trying to get the reflash that some people on here had gotten for these issues. They didn't say anything about my intake... some dealers would just look straight at any performance part and say that is the cause of the problem.
