Hello all, this is my first post on the forum. I recently bought a 1990 626 LX Hatchback for dirt cheap. The body is in pretty good shape for it's age, some rust on the rockers but nothing major. I am however having some engine problems. When I bought the car I was told that it needs a tune up, but I can see that it has fairly new plugs and wires. It's doesn't idle too well. Btw, No CE light. I replaced the throttle body and the 2 sensors on it throttle position and idle air control valve. Also replaced the Mass air flow sensor, runs a little better but not much, we did however find out that it idles MUCH better if you prop open the flap inside the MAF. My buddy thinks the computer might be the culprit. Anything else I should check?

All I know is that with a problem liek this there are many things that can be the culprit. although you have been through fair bit of the ignition problems and sensors there are many more variables that could be the culprit. Have you had it to a Mazda technician?

I know the thought of spending mass amounts of dough are horrid. But if he can tell you the problem then you can buy the one problem part and install it.

Trouble shooting, as you have done can be way more expensive. You might end up buying more "troubleshooting parts" than you paid for the entire car.

Just some advice.(ughdance)

I might have gotten myslef in deeper than I thought. There is oil in the breether tube and I think that is not something simple to fix.

Could just be a bad PCV valve.
