New Mazda Club

the benefits of MSCW sound attractive, but they have meets once a month right?

Here's a scenario: Say we wanna have a MSCW meet on a saturday to HIN in Philly or sumthin. Is that cool?

Plus i dont like the timing of the meetings. Id NEVER EVER EVER be able to go if they are always on wednesday nights. :(

i like the mscw crew the times ive met them. it is an older club. it is mainly miata and rotarys. they do meet once a month at fudruckers in the nova area. they do have drives and lift time and autoxing and all.
these are all good things and ive debated on if i should join or not.
the club we are talking more about it a tad younger and into more the proteges and the import scene style then MSCW. i think it would benefit everyone if we had our group of pros and other cars and we were also a part of MSCW as well.

i dont mind driving for some meets and all but like ray said..... wens meets where they are precludes me from making most of them.

MSCW is fun, but the problem is that their autocrosses are few and far between, and many of their high speed driver events "VIR and Summit Point" are out of many of the local members price ranges.

I have been speaking with the chairman of the council for quite some time now about starting up our own Autox club. They provide all the gear just as Hank stated, and the lots to drive on, we only need to provide the man-hours. Lt. Dan has his own reservations towards the council, but I think that since it is under new leadership he might be able to be convinced to join again.

I very much liked the core Promazda members and will be more than happy to help out and be a part of whatever becomes of this new organization. I will also do my part to bring in as many OMGhi2u race members as possible;)

We need to have another meeting when possible about this club over drinks, food, and daytona. Dave and busters! ;)

Amber - Just let me know what I can do to help.

OK, my turn to chim in! We have a great bunch a people here in this area that love to get together. So we have step one of forming a club out of the way. Now we need to go to step two. I made this promise to Amber and Lisa on the phone yesterday and I said it when I first came to promazda, I will do anything for the club and it's members. This is what I love! I come to work and I have no one to talk car stuff with and at home my g/f doesnt want to hear it either. I love going out and meeting up with people and talking about cars and all sorts of s***! I hope and I can tell that you guys out there feel the sameway as I do. We do need to get together and talk all this over asap. One thing that I have to stress is that the forums are just a form of communications. But this form communications has its flaws. The forums have to be used as tool to get us together. The main communictation has to be done off of the forums. This I promise will clean s*** up. It is easier to express your feeling in a one on one type setting. I have some ideas but again I think we need to get together and work this out offline. That way everyone that wants to put some input in.

Agreed..we need to arrange a time to meet and go from there. Discussing on here won't do us much good. Hell, we are not even on at the same time. We should close these threads and just make a thread for us to meet and then discuss all the issues there. Only then will all this get settled. And if anyone knows about busy schedules right now I sure do, so if you can't make it you can get filled in later (I don't even know if I will have time to spare in the next month). If anything right now we just need to get together and have some fun with or without our cars and forget the stress of this weekend and if we choose to we can discuss what our future may hold. Hell, for right now we don't need to call ourselves anything more than friends. It is our love for cars and mazdas that brought us together to become the friends that we are now. It doesn't have to be our cars that keep us together, but our shared interests in them will always be there and we can support one another in whatever it is that we want to do with them. I look forward to hanging with you all really soon!

Damn! And I just got my decal! LOL!

Anyway, despite my candor I know that this is no laughing matter. I haven't read this thread yet but I agree that we all have to stick together. Amber and Lisa, you have both worked too hard on what was ProMazda North for it to be dissolved as well. PLUS, we have some awesome people here! There is no way we will go down in flames as well. I support the new club... now let me go read the thread to see if we've decided on a name! :D

Ok, having read at least one of these threads now I feel a bit more informed. I can see what you guys are saying about the benefits of us all joining MSCW (what does that stand for BTW? I'm not familiar w/the club, does anyone have a site link?) but I also like the idea of being separate and getting together with the same great people we've all met so far and, of course, adding new members. We have a solid group up here and we can't let it go to waste. Please don't discount the value of the forum and discussions however. I 100% agree we all need to meet in person to sort this out (just don't make it the 29th! :D) but some people can't always make it and if we just PM or email or phone each other some may be left out of the loop. Having said that, if we do decide to form our own club - hey, let's start a poll! - I too vote for "4bangers and Mash" :p LOL!

Eric, I love what MSCW has to offer to their members, i mean, not many clubs have the ability to put together a track driving weekend at VIR, let alone a Mazda club!

that being said, i think it is perfectly fine to let the guys to create another identity that allow them to do the 'import scene' stuff, like shows and drag and car meets and whatnot. It would feel awkward to bring the well-respected MSCW name into the mix, kinda goes against what MSCW stands for IMO :)

I think MSCW and the new 'club' can co-exist just fine, since they attend to different aspects of our Mazda-loving ;)

I hope you guys dont loose track of us here in NC. Not all of us are bad. I will miss you guys. Im having an emotional time here. I cant believe this at all.

You know I support all of you in anything you do. I have to say, I like the Metro Mazda name myself. I think there are already too many clubs out there with abbreviations that people have to remember. Stick with something simple and try to keep "Mazda" in the name. We will probably come up with a new name and logo down here before long. Our summer bash will be an all mazda event, just not 'promazda' now. I think we should go back to the original idea of what we started this on, the enthusist. Not show, autox, etc. Just ordinary people that want to learn more about Mazdas and hang out, have fun. If you guys need any help with names or drawing logo's, let us know. As far as deals or sponsorships, etc. we will always keep you guys in mind and keep you in the loop so you dont miss out on anything. If you need a place on the web, we can help with a subsection on our site when it's back up. I agree with titanium about talking on the phone. Things are always better when kept off the forums.

I got it!

Mid-Atlantic Mazda Enthusiats Group.

Mid-A solves the md/dc/va problem while keeping it short...
Mazda needs to be in the name so its there.
It has been said over and over...It should be enthusiast based...not focusing on one thing(i.e. auto-x, show, race, etc)
And finally so as not to sound exclusive I think "Group" sounds much better than "club"

To be honest I was thinkin about name non-stop since I heard what happened last night.
I forgot about the whole thing in the past few hours while installing my springs. I swat down for a break and it just clicked(eureka)

ok, so maybe its totally dumb, bt anyways, what do y'all think?

the acronym has a nice ring to it too - MAMEG(pronouced Maim-Gee) :D

or you could just leave group out...

Mid-A Mazda Enthusiasts. MAME, lol.

ok, now im just rambling..someone let me know if this is stupid or not...
