Hello all....we just bought our Mazda 5 sport w/ auto in silver yesterday, and are very happy with the purchase. The vehicle with all weather mats, roof rack, cargo liner, and cargo cover cost us $18,081 (that does not include tax/title/etc). My wife needed/wanted a new vehicle, and she had a 2001 Honda Civic LX 4dr. She was also interested in getting a Honda CR-V, so we researched both the 5, and the CR-V, and test drove both.

I was sure when we test drove the Honda CR-V she was gonna love it, and the whole thing was going to cost us about 4K more if we went with it. But we both were not very impressed with the Honda, it had a fairly rough ride, and the power seemed kind of lacking. Then we test drove the Mazda and I was impressed, I was not expecting it to be as nice as it was. The fit and finish were great, and I was dreading the power of it after reading a lot of negatives about it on the web. But the power from the 2.3 seemed fine, and the transmission shifts very smoothly. The 5 seemed to have more get up and go then the Honda CR-V, and the Honda is rated at 180 HP.

This is out first Mazda ever, and I must admit I was really impressed, and will keep them in mind for any future purchase.

well Bob, welcome! and congratulations! there is a helpful bunch of people here, most everyone gets along (in this section anyway :) )
you'll probably be hooked on Mazdas now; this is my 5th one!

Welcome to the board, i'm also new here. Anyways, you made a great decision in choosing the 5, Hondas a overrated!

Welcome Bob. Folks on the board are a chatty, helpful bunch with lots of patience for questions of any nature. For some of us, we spend waaay too much time here. :)

Welcome. The mazda5 is a precision instrument. A special tool of some sort that you don't just drop into the toolbox without care. Owners usually make sure they are clean and waxed as much as possible. It will become the daily drive of choice.

You may need a mazda bra for those long drives. The paint can easily have swirl marks as you remove the insects that hits the paint. Also minimizes stone chips.

That is why you should pressure wash the bugs before you wash it by hand. Also, when you start by hand, be sure and soak the bugs before you scrub. But if it's covered in bugs make sure and stop by a high powered car wash with a great spotless rinse to prep the car for your hand wash. My car has no scratches at all and I live in a very bugged out place in the summer.

Welcome. Honestly this is probably one of the best car forums around. Alot of helpful information and not alot of whining or arguments over stupid stuff like what is the best tire cleaner or aftermarket speakers...etc.

I'm not even a car guy and I still visit this forum regularly.
