New Info on Mazdaspeed P5

The stuff I been hearing things through are Mike (mazda designer). They are having conflicts with the mazdaspeed turbos. So they may release the sp20 as a mazdaspeed here. Until the 2.3liter is released. They already have a 2.3 liter motor turbo with 300hp. Of course you already read about the mazda 6 drag car 2.3 liter motor.

Oh by the way 2.3liter motor will swap for the 2.0 motor. No clue yet on transaxle he is looking into that.

lets all hope that mazda doesnt turn into stingy bastards when it comes to mazdaspeed parts for our p5's. like the mazdaspeed protege, they dont sell the performance parts seperately. hopefully theyll get a clue that there is a market for dealer performance parts.

I do not want to start rumors but what I have heard from Mazda was the MP5 mazda speed version will be powered either by the 170 horsepower sports 20 engine or the new 2.3liter turbo motor. Thats the two answers I received about the mazdaspeed protege 5.

We are not going to get Sport 20 FS-ZE in the US...And it makes the 170 ps, not horsepower running on OBD I...That means it would end up being severly hampered by OBD II, which has been demonstrated by the people who have done the swap.

The 2.3 liter will not fit in the current Protege engine bay. Nothing lines up right.

The Mazdaspeed 6 isn't slated until sometime next year. Then the Miata after that after the redesign there.

The Mazda 3 will be out before a Mazdaspeed Protege 5 will.

And why isn't this in the rumors section?!?

The problems they have had with the Mazdapseed Protege lie around Calloway and warranty issues for Canada, and with the delays in bringing the MSP to market...

Mazda NA is not happy with Calloway...Hence why the likely outcome of a MSP 5 is highly unlikely...

not to pick nits, but i dont think calloway was the problem....it was whoever was making the piping i believe...

It was my understanding that Calloway was going to be providing the future warranty parts as well, but didn't want to do so for Canada for five years...

I don't know...Mazda just isn't happy with them.
