Hi guys, im Corey and new to the forum. A lot of good info here but nothing that can help me answer my question, so here is the scoop.

12/22/12 around 2:30pm went to the car wash, washed the car and decided to pop the hood and do the same ( all with a pressure washer ) also kept the car running the whole time and didn't spend much time under the hood with the water. Everything was fine when I got in the car and took off but about 1/2 mile down the road I got a horrible misfire, drove home about 8-10 miles away and plugged in the OBD2 scanner. 2 codes - p0301 ( I believe ) Cylinder 1 Misfire and a second one pending. Checked all the plugs they all had oil on them, cleaned em off and changed all the coil plugs. Still, getting a horrible misfire. its sat since about 4pm up until now which is 8 hours later and still a horrible misfire but now its even worse.... Upon heavy acceleration it falls on its face and jerks bad! also the Speedometer is going crazy jumping up and down on its own. I checked to see if cylinder 1 is getting spark and it is, hmmmm... I am lost!! I am shocked that is gotten worse and not better, not trying to drive it much don't wanna mess it up... here are the specs on the car ---

2004 Mazda 6i (4Cyl)
5 Spd
144k Miles ( No service lights til now )

If anyone has any idea, experienced this problem or could lead me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Corey

ALSO --- when I checked and cleaned the plugs, I rotated all the plugs to see if the misfire would change and its not, Still cylinder 1. All plugs had oil on them ( good amount ) but cylinder 1 plug seemed to look the best!

Hey bud I would try helping you on here but there's alot to run through I just replaced my friend's valve cover gasket on his 93 honda accord cause the plugs where drenched in oil. Where in ohio are you located? Im around west/ Columbus area, If you can get back to me I can try to swing by an check something's out but im truly sad to hear this. ( Do not remove the spark plugs if oil is in the spark plug wholes! If oil get's into the cylinder it can seize the engine up an be bad bad.)

Hi Corey, I'm knew to this forum too! I will help you with this one. I'm not an expert and I'm sure many guys here can give you some more technical feedback. From recent experience, the same the happened to my 2004 Mazda 6s where the engine was reving my car would shake going above 60mph. The check engine light came on it too. I took it to the dealer and they told me that it was one of the three coils misfiring. They said that they have seen this happening. They suggested getting all three coils replaced because once one fails all the others will later fail too. The pricetag of that was $900. Pretty upsetting but had to get it done. Hopefully you got that fixed by now. As for the oil in the spark plugs, have you changed them out yet? I had those done too at the same time they replaced the coils. Good luck!

My car:
2004 Mazda 6, 3.0L, V6
139,000 miles
Autotran (both automatic and manual)

If your speedo is jumping around it is probably a battery/charging system issue. Take it to autozone and have them check out charging system and battery. Could have shorted out your alternator during the wash.

Zoomzoomgrl- Did this fix your problem because sounds more of supension issue. An not to make you feel bad cause this happens to many but 900$ is about 65% more than what you should of paid. If your in ohio an need mantience done let me know. I do everything from car builds to typical mantience on mine an others vehicals.
