just bought a 2000 mazda protege from my friend for 350$ 2 days ago but the problem i found out it is that you can drive the car for 45mins to a hour then it will just die out and if u try to start it it wont but if you wait like 25 mins and it will start right up,iv replaced the computer,cut the cat out so far,i just dont know if its the fuel pump or if its the fuell pressuer regulator or what lol i need some help
the specs are its a 2000 mazda protege 1.6,auto,dx,with alot of"speed dents"as i call em lol.

Try replacing the thermostat. If it thinks its too hot, it might go into limp-mode to save the engine. Not sure if that'll work, but its worth a shot. How many miles on it? I used to have a 2000 ES 1.8, but the 1.8 and the 1.6 are very different engines

Do you have access to a fuel pressure tester? If so that is what you will need to use to diagnose a fuel problem. Here is a link that may help you in that department;
