New guy from Michigan!

Hi everyone, I figured I would introduce myself. This is the best Mazda board I have come across so far.

My name is James, I live in Livonia MI which is a suburb of Detroit. I bought my 5 new in 2007 and we love ours. My Wife had a 2000 Mercury Villager Sport at the time and we loved the size of the 5 much better. With our two kids and side impact airbags and the sliding door (a requirement for me), it seemed like a unique choice. We get stopped in the parking lot all time with people asking questions about it.

I also have a 1995 Ford Thunderbird V8 that I have been rebuilding. It has a 4.6L V8 good for about 205HP. I also have it tuned with SCT XCAL2 hardware and in the spring will have 3.73 gears with a Mark VIII driveshaft. Of course, I have replaced just about every wear item on this car. It did high 15s at Milan Dragway this year, I am hoping for low 15s or high 14s next year.

Here are my pics:

For the Mazda, I came here looking for advice on my snow tires. So far, I have got a lot of good ideas.

Feel free to visit my website at http://www.v8thunderbird.com for more pics and info on my other cars.

Welcome! (cool) Sweet 5.

That Tbird is pretty interesting. I always liked the ones with the freaky iridescent paint that changed colors. Does yours have the climate control and all of the bells and whistles? Sorry, I digress.

Yes it has most of it, I don't have ABS or traction control, but it has the automatic climate controls and such. That paint job you are talking about is the world's most expensive factory job. It looks nice, but on most of these cars they chip off and don't look as good as they once did. I have a few spots myself that need work, but I am working on getting all of the mechanicals done first. I just bought the Thunderbird last year.

Its a nice vacation from my two 2.3L Duratecs.

Nice looking M5, now lets get to adding some personal touches to that thing..., rims, tires, front air dam, down skirt, sub woofers, amps, ... Oh that's my list (wink)(lol2).

Welcome and enjoy your stay, keep us posted on what you plan to add etc.

Peace!(rei)
