Just thought I'd share some pics etc with you guys

I and a few others were lucky enough to be invited to Canberra for a drive in the new generation 3 MPS or as you guys call it Mazdaspeed 3

The front end is starting to grow on me a bit, but I just can't get past the chrome tail lights.

i think it looks too (for lack of a better word) ordinary. It doesnt look ordinary compared to other cars by any means, but it doesnt look hugely different from the mazda 3. Kind of like the new mini cooper "s" the old one looks like it is a bit more serious, and thats how I feel with our MS3. I think the new one just isnt aggressive enough.

enough of my blabbering though, thats awesome, i'd love to do that!

Seriously, look how much better the first generation is:

And that's a black '10 so the "smile" isn't even that obvious and it still kills the look of the car!

really it's just the smile that kills it..... i bet if an aftermarket bumper doesn't come out soon, people can modify the bumper....like cut the three bars that make the smile and insert a honeycomb grill, or even a nice front mount.

EDIT: i bet autoexe will come out with an aftermarket piece like they have for the first gen, where you have to cut your bumper in order to install it.

i don't actually notice the smile as much in person

also the front opening is actually smaller than it is in the previous model believe it or not

I have a neighbor with a 2010, so I see it everyday. Just can't do it. I'm sure it drives fine, just like any 3, but if I was in the market now, I would put the new 3 towards the bottom of the list rather than the top a year ago.

^ I'm with you. Last week I was driving, and I heard one of the kids say that car looks like it's smiling. I look in the rearview, and low & behold it's a 2010 mazda3. Even they think it's funny looking.
