New Exhaust for Mazdaspeed Proteges

Just get some PB Blaster or other penetrating oil to help with loosening the old bolts and you should not have much of a problem. Hopefully we will not have to bend the hanger mounts for fitment or anything. I just ordered some Kartboy Exhaust Hangers, to go with mine. Anyone notice that the j-pipe has two O2 sensor bungs? One before the flex-pipe and one after the cat. Hoping I can use the first one for an AEM Wideband, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Man you guys have done a lot of posting in the 8 hours I've been at work.

I had a question 1 on topic and 1 off topic.

1.What is the advantage of the kartboy exhaust hangers?

2. Why do people put "**bump**" into there messages?

P.S. I can't wait to get my exhaust either (attn) (attn) (attn)

1.) Kartboy exhaust hangers are stiffer, so your exhaust won't move around as much.
2.) Bump means "bump"ing the thread to the top. When someone posts in a thread it moves it to the top, so by posting people bump it so others can see it. If you're posting for no other reason than to make it go to the top, that's called bumping it.

you know thats the first time i noticed that bung hanging off the side in front of the flex pipe, that would be cool if we could put a wideband there. and the kartboy hangers rock, even on my stock set-up i noticed a difference, i mean they added at least 7 HP. no really they are just a much firmer material than the oem rubber hangers, reducing the exhausts sway under the car, i really did notice a difference, the stockers are a b**** to get off if you are laying on the ground with the car jacked up. use dish soap or wd 40 to lube up the old ones and it makes it easier. hey rob, do you have the kartboy shifter or just the knob? i ordered i twm shifter in december and still havent gotten it, man i wrote them a long email a minute ago, they really should let me know whats going on with my order.

Yeah, my stock exhaust moves around way too much on startup, etc., with stock hangers. Probably also because the stock exhaust does not have any flex piping to deal with our engine bucking. I'm ordering an AWR front motor mount also. This should stop the engine from moving around so much and help with the hellacious wheel hop I have lately.

I have whole Kartboy SS setup and Corksport Bronzeoil Bushings, but Bronzeoils aren't in yet. Probably just wait till I get my exhaust.

hey thats cool, i should be getting my corksport bronzeoils really soon, they sent me my shipping notice on friday or thursday of last week. I also got their clutch line. i want to do a front motor mount sometime. there are new brakes and brake lines i plan on too. damn the list keeps going, i need a third job.

Since noone has answered my question from way previous post I'll post again:

QUESTION: the rear o2 bung is pointing straight up. Will that work in that direction, ie. will the o2 sensor fit like that? If it does fit won't it hit on the body, well at least the wiring that is, eventually eating through it and shorting out? My apexr1 DP with cat pointed off to the side after the cat..... just wondering because pointing straight up is odd.

i dont know the answer to that question, sorry, i was waiting to see if anybody else did. wesman II has the first demo of this exhaust, maybe he knows, but i havent seen him post in a bit.

John from Exotic Touch Design mentioned that the system came with some sort of wiring kit to relocate the O2 sensor. I'm not exactly sure if the kit is to address the vertical O2 bung or just to extend the wiring. You've got me curious though and I will ask about this the next time I talk to John.

I'm doubting they'd engineer it in a way that would damage the o2 sensor or make it not fit. I don't know for sure, but I do know that wesman II has this exhaust and he hasn't had any issues with it.

my excitment is dying a little here. can we just get a 10th person? i was excited about the thought of getting it late next week, but now i am going to be disappointed without this to work on. hopes are still up though, come on number 10.

hope we get one more for the down payment tonight while I'm at work because I want the exhaust bad.
