New equipment!

So I was rather bored tonight but I found it to be a great opportunity to try out my new toys. I picked up a wide angle converter for my A-80 and some fun filters as well.

The night shot below was using a Neutral Density filter which takes out half the light hitting the camera thus reducing the intensity of them headlights. I also used a flash with a 15 second exposure set to go off 10 seconds after I hit the shutter so I could get into position. After the flash, I rolled off the screen Adam West style. Prolly had the neighbors really confused but it was fun as hell!

The second and third were taken using a .7 wide angle converter lens which allows me to shoot more area and adds a neato touch of distortion!

Can't wait to try the new stuff out on the Starved Rock meet!

steve, might wanna edit out your plates, meng

but other than that, that's some really cool shiat right dar!

Dosle I checked Canon's website and I don't see anything on it for the Elph line (you have the 400 or 410 right). However, you can purchase a waterproof adapter to take the camera underwater and take underwater pictures of your p5. oh wait you wouldn't want to do that lol

Another pic uploaded!
This was taken with a combination wide angle adapter and polarizer filter (I figured out today how to combine'em for even more fun!)

You already know what the wide-angle adapter does; the polarizer will enhance the blues and greens in the shot (my car just happens to be blue :D ). Notice how the sky is bluer than most digicams will take. Also, polarizers will cut down on glare; headlights and the windshield are completely clear so you can see through them. This also works on water so you can see through water's reflection.

Can't wait for the ultimate photo op of Starved Rock!!!

i love the way a wide-angle lens bends the image.. i have a wide angle for my sony and also a 6X cross filter.. i recommend checking out the cross filter.. it puts those nice shiny glare marks and makes your car sparkle..

example: they use a cross filter when photographing jewelry and that's what makes all those light glare sparkles on it.. like a star.. a 6x lens has a star with 6 legs to it.. an 8x has 8 legs to the sparkle star, etc..

edit: found a pic on the net to demo a cross filter.. see the glare on her glasses

i need to (RTM) for my camera. i still want to get the panoramic mode, if it has it

Oh I have a cross filter too I just thought peeps would get tired of seein' my car haha. This one's wide angle plus polarizer plus cross filter. Booya!

At Ritz they've got a buy 2 get 1 free deal on Quatrany filters. So I picked up (or rather my wonderful GF picked up) polarizer, a neutral density, and 4-point cross filters.

BTW for some REAL cross filter fun, get into night photography. Though sometimes I prefer the more subtle look such as the 3rd shot. The last two pictures were taken by my Canon Elan II SLR film camera with the shutter open for 30 seconds. Gotta love it!

P.S. Jose if you'll let me, I'd like to take a look at your digicam at the next meet, make sure everything's set right and give you some ideas/tips on getting the most out of it (what do you use anyways).

lol yeah here's another couple more these w/o the cross filter. I've found that if you can hold the shutter open long enough, lights naturally pull out into stars 8-)

One of the most fun and annoying part of photography is you have to be able to improvise. The second picture was from the top of the Hancock looking North on LSD. Unfortunately, my tripod was temporarily confiscated because it posed a "safety and security hazard"(boom07) . So I actually set the camera on top of my camera bag, hooked up the remote releaser so the camera wouldn't shift when I hit the shutter, and prayed for the best. You'll see the reflection in the top of the screen. I could digitally edit it out, but I'd rather keep it as original as I can with all its beauty and all its flaws.
