We had a hail storm yesterday and my 2 month old 2016 CX-5 lost the battle. I am so bummed. The insurance adjuster will be out to look at both cars but I can't imagine how they can get out all of those dings. I can't really get a good shot of it for the forum, but it's probably just as well. Anyone had hail damage fixed? Will it look good again?

Sorry to hear that about your new car. The lightweight steel used on new cars is no match for hail. I have an older Mazda 3 that got hit last year with hail. A few good dings on the hood and roof. Didn't bother to get it fixed though as it is an older car and will be sold shortly.
I had my 07 WRX for three months before it got pummeled by a hail storm. A paintless dent repair guy at the body shop was able to remove all of the dents and I was unable to tell the difference afterword. Repair was 3k+ and they had the car for over a week. (covered by comprehensive on insurance) Pretty much all labor, and they had to replace a few trim pieces.

I've had hail damage before on a Chevy Blazer back in ~1997. Once repaired I couldn't tell. I'm sure there are even better methods now.

I feel for you! That happened to me on my last car. It was the first car I had ever ordered to exactly how I wanted it, instead of just settling for what was on the lot. I waited patiently for 3 months for it to be shipped. While it still had the temp plates, it took close to $8000 in hail damage! I did lots of research, and found the right body shop. They had it fixed up good as new. They even chopped the roof off and replaced it.
Do you homework, and find a great shop! Don't let your insurance company tell you where to take it!

Yes, I had a Honda Accord that had a good bit of hail damage. These "Dent Dr." people can get most of them out to where you'll never know it happened. Some trim pieces, they may need to replace, but, they can push out the dings, it's pretty amazing. Your insurance should cover it under your comprehensive policy.
Off topic... my first car was a '96 baby blue Blazer (tranny basically died at ~107k miles) and I was literally in love with that car. Happy to see another Chevy convert
Thankfully hail doesn't really occur in the DC area.. at least not since I've been here. And the house we're moving to in WV has a one-car garage, so obviously my significant other knows that will be reserved for my CX-5! Now, if only I had a garage at my new job..
I have had damage before, car tops replaced and such. I don' believe the paintless repairs are "as-new"' or the dealers wouldn't have to collect insurance and discount them when they get hit.

I have had two Mazda's hit with significant hail damage....a 2011 Mazda2 and a 2012 Mazda3. The roofs were the worst, but there were a few spots on the hood and trunk lid as well. Find a good paintless dent removal guy/shop. As long as there are no creases, they can re-work the panels out to near perfect. On both of my vehicles, I couldn't see where the damage was and that was after a fresh coat of wax.
I would definitely try that route first - it has a very high success rate which is mostly dependent on how badly damaged the vehicle is. I've seen some pretty bad dents get re-worked where you'd never know there was ever damage.

I've actually owned 3 now. 94, 95 and 2001. Traded in the 2001 on my 14 CX5.

My 02 Tribute got pummeled by hail 3 years ago and my insurance co considered it totaled. They paid me out and I elected to keep the vehicle. I'm still driving it now and it still drives great. Just waiting for the wheels to fall off so I can buy a CX5. Honestly you can barely even see most of the hail dents now...the hot summers seem to pop them out I think. The only problem is that the Carfax shows it as a Total Loss and dealer trade-in will only offer me $500 on it because of that....ridiculous!

Sounds like a good vehicle to run until you have to tow it to the scrap yard.
That's what Im doing. This thing wont die though. It still runs great and Im itching to get a CX5 lol

Keep it and get the CX-5. It's always good to have a "beater" vehicle if you do much off the beaten path. It probably doesn't cost much to keep it, other than liability insurance.
My mom's '02 was still running great when she sold it in September. She also bought a CX-5 (she was jealous of me).

dang, I got lucky then. I did see a thunderbolt hit a sign though. might want to get a mover blanket from harbor freight or some cheap blankets just in case.
