Nice buy! I have a 15 with 165k miles. Honestly, I’ve done very little outside of regular maintenance and wear items the car has been outstanding! I will say I’m not a big fan of the 2026. The no buttons or knobs is a big 😖 for me! I do like that they dropped the turbo though. I think ramming to much air and fuel is not good for a lot of 4 bangers!
why not have both..so old guys like me who still have a pulse and want a little more zoom zoom. curious why just because you don't want a turbo why would you be happy it was not available to those who want it? more choices the better. not a knock just curious why?

I'm in favor of watching other people driving cars that have absolutely crazy engines. Whatever you want to do with your car entertains me. Any engine that I'm going to own however has to be able to have a very long life---whether it's in a car, a lawn mower, generator set or boat. I do think it's unfortunate that turbocharged engines are being sold as a mass market items. Enthusiasts are familiar with the additional maintenance requirements; little old grandmothers may not be.

My brother in-law is later 70’s and is at about 150,000 miles on his 2019 cx5 turbo. Nothing but oil changes they like to road trip so put a ton of miles on. His other car is a honda 2000S also has high miles. Nothing much additional maintenance other than plugs at 40000 instead of 80000 but that is simple to do

It's the oil changes that a lot of owners don't comprehend. So many people neglect basic maintenance already and a turbo car needs it more frequently.
Plus the extra horsepower can be harder on drivetrain and suspension components but that depends a lot on driving style and probably isn't significant.

OCI on these engines is generally the same, turbo or not.

Sure you could maybe make the argument that you could take the N/A motor to 7500 or 10000 or whatever and you can't with the turbo, but that doesn't mean you should. That's why we just stick with 5,000 miles on either motor.

spot on. I like to have some fun before I go.

I also have NA. Yes the turbo is may be 30% more expensive to maintain vs my NA costs and fuel but its worth it. And the the CX5 its at least 50-100% less expensive to maintain vs european turbo car of the same power.

Only lexus nx turbo is cheaper than the CX5 but it cost 30%-40% more.

Even the mere mention of changing oil at 10,000 miles makes me think that someone is wanting to sell you a new car (or new engine) approximately every 100,000 miles. This completely kills ALL trust and goodwill I may have developed for a manufacturer over a lifetime.

WE do, yes. But automotive enthusiasts are in the minority when it comes to vehicle ownership. Far too many people are just "gas and go". They never even check their oil, much less change it on time. 10 minutes of watching "Just Rolled In" or "I Do Cars" on YouTube is sufficient evidence of that. 😂

Took a look at the Rokblokz mudflaps. Not a fan of how it looks on the car. To me the factory mudflaps look so much better.
Agree. They look like bad DIY flaps.

I installed the Rokblokz mud flaps... and now it's time for me to eat some crow. :(

zx10guy and RedBaron had it right; the Rokblokz look like bad DIY flaps. Viewed from behind the car, the flaps look reasonably interesting. Viewed from the side of a CX-5, the Rokblokz look terribly skinny and unprofessional. Just about any SUV-type car with factory flaps looks way better. Those have a real profile that adds to the design of the car.

I just ordered sets of KPF1-V3-450 and KPF1-V3-460 genuine Mazda mudflap splash guards from Mazdaswag.com. When I get those installed, my total mudflap expense for this car will come to $231.55 --- or $31.55 more than it would have cost if I just paid for them with the new car purchase.

Mmmmm.... that sure is some tasty crow!

So many new cars arrive at the dealer with optional factory equipment already installed. I wanted none of that... and traveled a good distance to find one without any additional equipment…
I was also able to find a new Signature model with zero options to replace our 2022 Signature and work out a good deal. Not only has the price gradually increased as well as the delivery charge, but these final Signatures are arriving at dealers with every conceivable option to pump up that window sticker even higher. As this was our 3rd CX-5 I already had all of the desired accessories to transfer into this latest purchase and didn’t want to have to negotiate a price for superfluous non-essentials, so coming across this particular unit in this color, a unicorn in N. California, probably saved us more than a thousand dollars and didn’t require removal of a bunch of crap I’d never use…. 👍

You speak as if turbocharged engines are a new phenomenal or something lol. They been around forever, so have supercharged engines. Your "little old grandmothers" may have had them in the past lol. I'm sure they're a lot more reliable today than previous generations.

Don’t get me wrong, I love turbo cars. I turbocharged my P5 and had too much fun doing it! I just think that for longevity and less complexity the 2.5 is great NA. Just MHO.

While I prefer to own a car that is comfortable, lasts a long time, and is not particularly fast... I do enjoy watching other folks who do not feel the same way about power and speed.

I bought a new 2021 CX-5 Grand Touring (my 1st NEW car since my 1972 Chevy Vega). I chose the CX-5 mainly due to its styling. Other factors that drove me to the CX-5 were: (1) the fact it was made in Japan, (2) had a regular transmission and not a CVT, (3) had no turbocharger, (4) had a semi-luxury interior, (5) it’s great ratings/reviews on-line, and (6) the fact the dealership reduced the price by 10% from the sticker price.

I have 47,000 miles on the car now. It has only had oil changes and tire rotations. The electronic thermostat (very expensive) was replaced under warranty.

We enjoy the car a lot. My main complaints are: (1) hard/narrow driver’s seat, (2) weak heater, (3) inability to see the heads-up display with polarized sun glasses on, and (4) the difficulty of changing the transmission fluid and filter. I wish the car didn’t have the cylinder displacement technology, but so far I’ve not had any problems with it, and I cannot tell when it goes from 4 to 2 cylinders and vice versa. It’s seamless so far.

I would buy the car again.

PS - I put aftermarket mud flaps on the car that look just like the factory ones at half the cost, and put Husky floor mats and cargo liner in it. I also put Canvasback covers on the wheel wells inside the cargo area to keep dog hair and dirt out of the carpeting on them. Plus I put a Class 3 Drawtite trailer hitch on the car and had my Mazda dealership wire it with a Mazda harness to avoid warranty issues in the event of that an electrical glitch caused problems with the car’s electrical components.
